Attachment 94873 Has this happened to anyone trying to read their ECU for the first time? I followed all the steps on the video Shiv has on the openflash website.

Does your car have a previous tune on it possibly? Did you buy it new or used?

Bought it used. Only one previous owner but I don't believe it was tuned.

Try erasing it using Open flash Manager then , Select Vehicle type toyota then GT86 and try again.

If it won't erase then previous owner did not unmarry it, if so you will have to ship it back to previous owner toy get them to write stock tune back to their car.

I thought it was brand new from your previous posts

904FRSlow 11-02-2014 11:15 PM

OH, I bought the car used and the OFT new.

If the ECU cannot be read by the OFT, then it's more than likely that the ECU has an Ecutek flash since that is the only flash I know of that actually changes the seed key algorithm to prevent standard reading/overwriting.

But first, try connect the OFT to your car and go to TUNING. Then instead of READ, got to ECU info and let me know what it says. Or if it still gives you a communication error.

I think BRZ EDIT does the seed key chage as well

Ah yes, you are correct. I think they started doing that last year too.

Tromatic 11-03-2014 01:50 PM

WHY the F do they do that to the ECU?
