My '13 DGM Premium

I work at one of the more highly regarded Subaru dealers in Indiana, and Subaru gave us first dibs on 2 units for most of the year with no promise of more inventory 'til end of fall. The first one was pre-ordered by a 69 year old woman who wanted a MT white limited. The second one was a DGM Premium with full options. The fellow who preordered the DGM found another dealer 2 states away who could get him into a BR-Z on the Saturday before his DGM's Tuesday delivery, so he ate the deposit cost and bailed on his preorder.

So, the DGM showed up on Wednesday, May 30th.

I snuck over (I work in the Infiniti building, we are a 4 car-line dealer) to help unpack it and before I knew it, I was lot prepping it in the detail bay after it had been PDI'ed.

(That's me making my "I'll cry if I don't take this home" face.)

Mid-wash and lot-prep

I then found out that it no longer had a buyer and wasn't a sold unit. On that day, I joked about how it'd be nice to have, being the owner of two AE86s.

I had no idea at that point that I would end up owning the car.

Fast forward two days and a lot of negotiating later, June 1st, I become the proud owner of my first brand new car at 24 years old, a 2013 DGM Premium BR-Z:

I'm not even 300 miles in and I'm absolutely in love. It's such a great car, and a welcome addition to my life. I work as a detailer and the Subaru shop is a 20 second walk from my building, so my baby will always be well cared for.

I feel the same way, I have never experienced such a fun driving experience!

Non-refundable deposits are WRONG!

:iono: don't ask me man, I don't work in sales. It didn't seem out of the ordinary to me, it's a special order car. It's just what I heard. Either way, it's mine now :w00t:

Yup, good fortune to you, but your dealership is not up and up in my book.

The fact that it didn't seem out of the ordinary is the root of the problem with dealerships in general.

These cars are new and obviously hot sellers, special order is not appropriate in this circumstance. If you could special order one in neon green, that would be a different story, none of these car's are special order per se.

The picture of the key looks like a Premium key, so I'm betting the original guy who ordered it added the spoiler and fog lights as options.

DookDookDGM 06-04-2012 12:08 AM

It is a premium, just fully loaded on options, including the chrome fender trim. I don't have heated seats or leather interior. But I fell in love with it the moment I saw it, so it's all fine with me. It's a great car, I think this is what true happiness is supposed to be like.
