The HALO thread (includes upcoming HALO 5)
So I know we are about a year out from the new HALO being released. With that being, we are only a little over a week from having HALO: The MasterChief Collection being released. Who's thinking of getting one or both? What are you hearing about the upcoming HALO 5? I'm going to get the MasterChief collection so I can a) play the entire series from start to finish and b) be able to play the HALO 5 Beta when it becomes available on December 29th.
Also, where is the best place to buy video games? So far I have usually picked them up from Sam's Club since they tend to be a little cheaper. With that being said, I noticed Best Buy was advertising $10 worth of "certificates" and an "exclusive map book" if you pre-order the MasterChief collection from them. Edit- I am updating this post with a list of people who have expressed interest in getting together to play online once it becomes available to do so. If you are interested, just post your GT on this thread and I will update the list. FT86 Username: Gamer Tag

Microsoft online store was giving out a $10 gift card or $15 in microsoft points if you pre-ordered form them. I usually do gamestop though. Brand new, games are going to cost the same pretty much anywhere.
I'm getting the Masterchief collection for sure. Have you seen the new trailer for halo 2? Holy crap it looks stunning. |

My guess is because it's convenient and you know they'll have your pre-ordered copy of the game guaranteed for pickup come launch date. No need to worry about ship dates, tracking numbers, etc. Gamestop also gives points for every purchase on their power card similar to most vendors now. Some of the deals you can purchase with those points are pretty sweet I might add.

For those without preorders, target will have buy two games get one free next week. Sounds good for Halo, Call of duty and sunset overdrive for me.

Also, for the Xbox Live guys on here there's a free Halo 2 documentary that I just watched, really good. Called "Remaking the Legend- HALO 2 Anniversary". @f0rge

And yeah, gamestop has that point system, but you have to do a lot of transactions with them to make it worth it and their stuff you can buy with the points aren't that great. Best thing is coupons for new and used games. |

All Halo all the time.
I have an unhealthy obsession with the Halo universe, I've read every book and most of the graphic novels. @53Driver I hear that documentary is awesome, my friend watched it and he was so pumped for Halo 2 after that. I haven't played Halo 2 since the original Xbox, i'm super pumped to get another chance to play. |
I generally get my games from a place called Futureshop, essentially a Canadian Bestbuy (also owned by Bestbuy, but we also have Bestbuy stores...go figure). Either way after every E3 they have this great "pre-order 2 games get the 3rd game free". Essentially works out to all games that I pre-order costing me $45 shipped to my door.
Hard to beat that price on games that are usually $70+tax. |
They better return the DMR to elite status. The Halo 4 patch which nerfed the DMR and made the BR unstoppable upset me.

I'm not sure? I have Xbox Live account and it popped up there as a free download so I watched it. Quote:

And the "revamped" HALO 2 did look stunning.
