Drive By Wire: Has anyone modified it yet?
Hey guys,
So, I've never been a fan of the DBW (drive by wire) on Subaru vehicles, going all the way back to my 08 Impreza 2.5i. That vehicle was difficult to drive at low speeds (like stalking a parking spot at the grocery store) because the throttle was so touchy. Luckily we had someone who had the know-how to do something about it over at NASIOC! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1537010 So fast forward 4 years and I'm back in to another DBW Subaru, and while not as disappointed with my 86 as I was with the 2.5i, I can still tell that there is a dullness to the response as well as an exaggerated engine-torque-request. Has anyone done any logging of the Throttle Pedal Position and the Throttle Plate Position to see how they both correlate? I'd be much more interested in my car having a Linear Throttle Pedal vs a Ramped Throttle, as well as somehow lessening the throttle pedal delay. Input from anyone? |
Yes, we have remapped the throttle to accomplish exactly what you are referring to. Have done the same for the Subaru Impreza line as well (2.5i, WRX, STi, LGT, FXT, etc.). See here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72195
We offer our custom throttle mapping as an option for any of our FRS/BRZ tunes. You can find details on our tunes here: http://www.brz-parts.com/ecutek.html - Bob |
It's easy enough to do. Similar DBW to those of old. One of my tools allows you to see the changes you make to the requested throttle. ECUtek makes it easier with its pedal calibration custom map too.

I've only just received my ECUtek cable and dongle, but haven't purchased a license yet so I haven't been able to play with anything. |

ECUtek has an easier way of doing it with the custom accelerator pedal maps IMO. No need to play about with the requested torque tables. |
