A long ignition time
I've had my 86 for about a year an 3 months now (30,000Km). The car takes more than usual to start. When i press on the ignition it feels like it wont start and then like 3-5 seconds later it starts. I have checked the battery, oil, and everything else. My car is an AT so there is no problem with me pressing the clutch.
Does anyone have a similar problem? If so how did u fix it? Thanks in Advance :D |
Poor fuel ? Timing issue, ignition coils maybe going bad ? Can't imagine a faulty or worn plug just yet.

Is it worse with an empty tank of gas than it is with a full tank of gas? Is it worse first thing in the morning when it has been sitting overnight?

Are you waiting a couple seconds with ignition on before cranking? Fuel pump needs to prime a bit in this car I found.

Actually no specific time just most of the times. For example today it never happened, but last week it was happening all the time.

I always do

Check main motor harness, located on the rear end of the engine near the battery. There are actually totally 3 harness located, you may check (or at least shake) all of them - i experienced the delay in starting my BRZ while i had problems with the biggest of 3 harness down there. But mine is stick. Good luck! |
I have an AT with 11k miles and its all on how cold and how long its been since I have driven it.

Mine has sat for a couple months a few times and started just fine.

I actually found the issue. there was a short between the battery and the alternator
Thanks for the help guys :D |

It was pretty worn out. I think its because of the weather here in KSA
