Wax for Yuzu
 

So have any of the Release 1.0 owners had a great wax success in making the color really pop? I'm thinking about trying Chemical Guy's Lava.

For all of you who plan on spending all your money on wax. Please realize that there is truly no difference in $16 wax and $60-100 wax.

If you want to waste your money and pay for expensive wax by all means go for it but you will get the same results.

And like we tell everyone, Wax does not care what color your car is. :P

I've used 2 different Meguiar's wax formulas with completely different results on my Galaxy blue color.

Meguiar's Gold Class Wax (carnauba) gave the car's look a lot of "pop" to it. It also gave the car a slightly different color in the sunlight, kinda golden. Very deep look to it. It brings out the paint's color very well. Also hides rock chips on my front bumper very well. Water beads in big drops.

Meguiar's Ultimate Wax (polymer) has a completely different look to it. It has this very clean, shiny look to it, but flattens the pop metal flake of the paint somewhat in the sun, instead is just very reflective. I really love the look of it though. In the summer after a fresh wax it looks like this unreal melted sort of crayola color. Also hides defects just as well. Doesn't bead as much as Gold Class, instead it forms millions of little water droplets.

Waxes are not just wax, though. It's the additives that make a difference in the products.

Some waxes are easier to spread, some last longer, some clean the paint a little bit while applying. I imagine some might even make your car "pop" in the same way many laundry detergents include UV-reactive chemicals to make white clothes appear brighter-than-bright white in the sun.

Not saying buy a $100 wax. Just that not all waxes are the same. Collinite 845 would my choice. Cheap, great shine, and durable as hell :)

Wax cleaners are nothing more then a Glaze that still have a slight abrasive chemical to them.

Gezzz there is so much misconception and misleading information in this industry, It makes me want to pull my hair out.

When we see competitors selling waxes for over $100 it drives us crazy. We hate to see people get ripped off like a simple midnight infomercial.

Polymer "wax" is often called a sealant by detailers, and you can apply wax (carnauba) over it to get the pop effect. Both effectively do the same thing, but polymer is light years ahead of carnauba in how long it lasts and how well it protects.

I liken it to a bottle of wine. There are folks that prefer a bottle of 20 year aged wine at a price point of $175, and people that prefer a box wine. The basis is the same (it's wine!), but there are other complexities at play that some will notice while others will not.

The more important factor here is the overall detail. If the vehicle isn't prepped correctly, the final treatment (the wax) will be for naught. Then it won't matter if you're crazy enough to spend $10K+ on a Wax Marble. The job will still look like crap. :)

I just waxed my RS 1.0 for the first time and used Meguiar's Ultimate. Seemed to be better than Meguiar's Next Generation Tech Wax 2.0 that I used to use on my Mustang. The Ultimate was a bit tougher to remove (stickier after drying), but I found there wasn't as much of a cloudy residue left over, though my Mustang was black and probably showed the residue a bit more than the Yuzu does.

Overall I'm quite happy with it and would buy it again.
