Significantly discounted 2014 or 2015?
I test drove a 2014 back in July and it looks like the dealer near me still has the same car in stock. They have 2 2014 limited and 1 2015 limited which is already marked down to 27k on their website...
Is it worth getting the 2015 or should I try to get a really good deal on a 2014? I plan to keep the car for a long time and it will be heavily modified. Thanks! - Roy |
price difference isn't much between 2014 & 2015....IMHO get the 2015....unless you like the extras on the limited 2014.....
|
If the difference between the two is more than a grand, get the '14 and use the money you saved for mods. It might have a lower finance rate too.

Is the 2014 "limited" the Monogram? If yes, I would get that over the 2015 because it has more value.

In your position and mindset, I'd opt for the remaining 2014 Limited since you're planning to modify heavily. And I would aim to get the bargain deal you're trying to target since the cold has approached, as you pointed out. Also, @D_Thissen mentioned the lower promotional APR from Subaru which is a plus as well.
Everyone is different... My mind's not into modifying and I was more attracted towards the lesser Premium version in the updated 2015 Model Year with my precise specs for the best price I could negotiate locally. Good luck to you. |
Since you're going to heavily modify the car, it's going to devalue it so much that it wouldn't even matter if you have a 2014 or 2015. Especially if you're going to keep it for a long time. Just get the 2014 and save some money for parts.

Make sure you drive one of each. There is a difference in how they handle and although they are not huge you may prefer one to the other.

If this matters to you at all, your insurance company will value the 2014 less than the 2015, even though they are both new. |

Like I said it isn't as huge as some reviewers make it out to be but it is there. I drove a stock 13, my mildly modded 14 and a stock 15 all back to back and there is certainly a difference between all 3. http://www.autoguide.com/manufacture...view-4046.html OH wait! I just realized OP said "limited". If looking at BRZs then Dtrop is correct! Sorry I was focused on FRS. |
I know the frs had some slight suspension changes for the 2015 MY. But the BRZ might not have changed?

I'll drive over there today and see what kind of bargain I can get on a 2014. I'll post the price here if I work something out. |
