Sony MirrorLink (XAV601BT)

Anyone else waiting the arrival of this bad boy? Its supposed to be out soon. Since the Bespoke and AppRadio 2 have been sort of a let down due to lack of support for more than a few apps, this one shot up on my radar. It has a few built in, but it supposed to mirror anything you have on your phone. Which seems all sorts of bad ass, if it works that well that is. I'm hoping it does, it looks like a really cool system. The Base Stereo is alright, but im hoping this will sweeten the ****pit up a bit.

Looks like Crutchfield has it in stock.

For the price, its definitely more interesting the BeSpoke, particularly because it works with Android. Pretty limited compatibility list though, and no dedicated Nav. I don't like Google NAV, it's just too hard to use compared to a stand-alone Garmin/Magellan/TomTom at least on my Droid X. Nice that it has two USB ports though.

Thanks i'll check it out. I'm actually waiting more for reviews at this point. Cuz Bespoke and AppRadio 2, just dont seem to be the way to go. Although i have no problem with it using the Cellphone to use its Apps, i think that will keep it up to date and give you more flexibility with apps. It's just those two have very limited support, i am hoping that with MirrorLink we will have more apps working just because theyre being mirrored. I'm using an iPhone myself. Fingers Crossed i suppose.

Oh i also think it's more expensive through Crutchfield. Bout 100$ i think.

There's much more info about compatibility here btw. The Crutchfield site made it seem like it was for Nokia Phones only, and come on who still uses Nokias. Well at least not as much in the US anymore.

I posted that a while back. Not much response but I've seen ppl around the forum fairly interested. Looks cool but I always have lots of criticism towards headunits. I'm hoping this changes my mind.

Yup i do believe you are the one who turned me onto it a few weeks back.

I have an AppRadio (first model), and while it is no where near perfect, there is a jailbreak extension (iOS obviously) that pretty much... does just about everything Pioneer SHOULD have. I believe it's called AppRadio Extensions and the 2.0 beta allows you to mirror and it will also relay touches back (interacting with apps).

I really, really like being able to use Waze in my car and am debating the AppRadio 2 for the FR-S. No iPhone compatibility on the MirrorLink?

The online demos suggest that its intended to be safe, so the intent is only to show programs that are setup for mirror link. Its an interesting idea, yet in the short-term there are not many uses. The Sony will be on my list of stereos to look at, but mainly just for the TomTom option.

Yeah I gathered the same, buuuuut they also demoed the least safe thing about it. Lol they showed the iPhone playing video. Which is usually a no no on the dash from a safety perspective.

Any of these "APP" headunits do DLNA for streaming? It'd be a better option quality wise than BT streaming. Just have an ad-hoc wifi network setup in the car...

Has anyone gotten one of these yet? They were released recently, and still no reviews.

We sure it fits in the car? Crutchfield isn't up to date on the existance of our cars yet. Thinking about picking one up.

It does fit... I just bought and installed mine last week. Its pretty good so far, only prob i would say is the audio quality. I liked the stock radio's audio quality better... but then again im still figuring it all out... will post pictures later.
