Wrx sti 2.5L engine in a gt86!!

Hey guys I just had this crazy idea about putting the new wrx sti 2.5L engine in a gt86, any one have any ideas about the engine mounts?, like if they would fit in agt86? Would it bolt on the gt86's gear box and would you think that this could be achieve without "a lot" of hassle? Because a lot of people want more power and this can be quite possibly another alturnitive way to gain that power.:eyebulge:

would require a lot of work. Better off with a built engine + turbo or an LSx swap.

What about a 2015 wrx 2 litre turbo motor?
Surely this would provide adequate power and still maintain the perfect balance.

I'd much proffer to throw the wrx sti turbo in the bin, yes I know then it would be an RX engine but "my"point of this engine swap is to the 2.5L power as I proffer super chargers and not only that I much more proffer N/A cars and the main idea is to eventually have a a 400hp N/A GT86 call me silly but that would be cool but if it is not going to be a N/A then it has to be supercharged my main reason is turbo lag " I hate turbo lag" though unless some one can give me a reasonable reason why to go turbo instead (I do want this car to be setup for drift) In case that information is needed :)

while maybe.. there are quite a few differences between the blocks.. better off just getting a bolt on kit for that level of power.

Just get a kraftworks kit. You'll make good power for a lot less hassle.

The ej257 is hardly a "new" motor lol. If you want a whopperload of power without a turbo you could look into a built motor with the sprintex 335 twin screw. I don't know what the story is on getting a 335 blower though. It'd still cost less than trying to make an ej25 fit probably.

You need to replace the '!!' with '?' in your title. when i read it i was expecting to see an engine swap with pics. it was almost as big a let down as 'alien vs predator'.

dabocx 10-22-2014 01:15 PM

There's a guy selling a intercooled 335 kit for 3500. He also has a built motor for sale. Just need fuel and a tune and you'll have a beast

There is so much wrong in that OP.

Why is there no face palm emoji :(

you can do the swap pretty easily, a bunch of people on here have.

Last person I heard of who did it used pieces of 2x4's for the engine mounts. Solid, but since they're wood they give a little bit and isn't so harsh.

Hey now, AvP wasn't a letdown. You just had to go in with the expectation of seeing a campy cgi action movie and it was perfect.

Now, AvP2 and Predators were kind of a letdown. Too much human drama, not enough monsters.

OP, you can do it. I have faith in you. Just document it for our judgement.

Why swap to an inferior engine?

Do you even have an 86? Have you done even the slightest bit of research on the matter? Or do you just think "Subaru 2.5L" must be better than "Subaru 2.0L" and post a topic about how you're going to swap?

So much fail. Where is that face-palm emoji when you need it...

I have an even CRAZIER idea. Bare with me .................................................. ..............
