NON 86 PREORDER NO CAR YET
I'm in Delaware and preordered and still waiting for car. Have a VIN and dealer says they are waiting to be told that the car has been assigned to freight carrier then 4 to 5 days. It seems to me that Toyota/Scion figure they have the sale so they are giving it a low priority and pushing out the cars they are adding high profit extras to. Thisway they sell more cars and keep the dealers happy with some extra profit. Hopefully soon they will run out of these other cars and ship mine. Know of 3 other preordered cars in my area that have not yet arrived. Anyone else having a similar experience?

Andy,
Sorry you are having a bad experience. You may have a valid point. Some dealers possibly add accessories to the vehicle because they know the vehicle will sell anyways. I dont do it because of the very reason you are experiencing. Hopefully your car gets there soon. I can tell you this though, most of the extras have little to no profit in them so I have no idea why they would add it. |
Add-ons
Thanks for your comments. I think Scion is choosing the add-ons and sending the cars to dealers for sale. Locally here 2 dealers had 4 FRS's that were sent to them for dealer stock. 2 of the cars had at least $500 of add-ons and 2 had zero add-ons so this whole thing does not seem to be very logical. Hopefully mine will arrive this week.

Andy,
I am the sales manager here at 355 Toyota Scion in rockville MD. We have the option(just as every dealer does) to brign the vehicles in Base which I do. The only option I add is floor mats because every customer expects their vehicle to have them (and rightfully so when you spend $24000 for a car) |
The 3 FR-S that I had inbound they attempted to accessorize up at the port. Thankfully, I was able to catch it the day they added all the accessories and had them removed before the car was processed at the port.
From what i've noticed, port processing takes about 2-3 days, provided they are not running behind. The ETAs I get for my Japan vehicles tend to be a little exaggerated, I tend to get them before their anticipated arrival. My first FR-S was scheduled to arrive between June 3rd-6th and I got it May 31st. |
Yeah I was able to remove the add ons (paint protection film, rear bumper app etc..) Are you leaving the floor mats on? seems to me that everyone wants them anyways.

Yep, mine had FR-S badged mats in it when I took it off the lot and they're not listed on the sticker (or anywhere else) as being an optional item.

sorry, you are right, it is the cargo mat that is $95 That I put in the vehicle... I may just bring them in without those at this point. Not sure if everyone cares for those.

Salesman called yesterday afternoon (tuesday) car is at dealer, truck had just arrived! Went last night and picked up car, took her out for a drive through the twisties, flashbacks to my RD250 Yamaha days in the 70's! Thanks for all your input.
