Series Blue Vin concern?

So I got my Series blue BRZ, I looked on this forum and noticed that the last 5 digits are supposed to state what # of 1000 it is supposed to be correct?

Maybe I missed something but mine is: 01118 So does that mean it is 1,118? If that is the case then I am confused how it could be over 1k in count?

Any ideas?

Mine ends in 1035, so... I dunno? :iono:

There were also some concerns that the VIN doesn't necessarily tell you what number your Series.Blue is out of 1000.

Which is why yours doesn't match up.

Well that sucks if it turns out to be a 'non-identifier'...I got my S.B in July, numbered in the 600s, so the numbers DO exist for S.Bs below 1000.

I have VIN #00002, and it is not a Series.Blue. Subaru made some of the regular BRZs at the same time as the Series.Blues, so there's no easy way to figure out what number car you got.

I had really hoped that the last four digits of the VIN would be the identifier...but here's the 'definitive word' when I e-mailed Subaru of America, Inc., and asked them flat-out if this is how to determine what is the production number of the BRZ S.Bs:

Thank you for contacting Subaru of America, Inc.

We appreciate you taking the time to email us. There is no way for us to provide production numbers to our owners. I am sorry for any disappointment but hope that you are enjoying your BRZ!

If we can be of any other assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Kelly Shinault

I was debating whether I should reply to you or not, but I decided I would.

I am unsure about everyone but I never said I didn't enjoy the car. I traded in my S2k because I fell in love with this thing.

I was going to order some custom engraved center consoles and saw thread about the number and thought it would add some cool sentimental value. Now that I know the vin does not represent anything I will just get some STI console instead.

Because of how they're produced, the pessimist in me says they could easily produce more than they said they would to make more money and nobody would be the wiser...
