Interior upgrades
Ok, so I've been in the FR-S.. and the interior is better in real life than the pics suggest.. but I still need more.. lol. I would love to add brushed Aluminium bits to the dash, vent surrounds, door handles, etc.. also thinking about getting one in either Raven or Argento.. and adding a Red Leather Interior.. (like the BMW Red) Anyone thinking of doing similar? Making the interior more upscale, yet sporty (ala Audi TT, BMW 1 series) ?? Suggestions? Manufacturers?? or please post pics if you have done anything..

I was thinking this.. but I work for Toyota-Scion and will probably get a good deal on the FR-S when i am ready next year.. so I will have the Scion version i'm sure.. Plus.. I owned one of the first Scion tC's when they came out.. and I always like the value the Scions usually offer over other brands.. and of course getting a better deal would help lol |
I was thinking of red leather seats as well, to match the red stitching. I also was thinking of black leather seats, with black perforated leather inserts, & red stitching. That would match the interior much better for an more OEM look.

I'm going to buy the red stitched knee covers and speaker covers that come stock in the 86. I think these subtle differences will help

The badge that gets stuck on at the end of the line doesn't bestow some sort of magical Scion value. |

Read motos post about the 86 development team. P.s. all Camarys in north america are made at a Subaru plant that doesn't make them subarus either. P.p.s. Toyota is the largest single shareholder in Fuji Heavy Industries and the majority funder for the 86 project. You're not buying a badge it's the same damn car, just at different trim levels. The scion is the "base" subaru premium is the mid tier while the limited is the "optioned out" model. With subaru hurting financially (toyota was asked to partner with them as I recall) it wouldn't shock me if toyota bought them out in the next 10 years and made them it's 4th brand. |

If I came to your house and told you I would pay you to wash my car, could I then walk around telling people "Damn look at how good I washed my car!" just cause I paid you to. Have a look at this picture. Does Toyota have any pictures like this? oh yeah thats right they had to wait till Subaru gave them the finished product. http://www.tune86.com/sites/default/...prototypes.jpg |
Let me help you since clearly you're new here, and are extremely biased.
the 86 team Once you're done reading you can join the discussion with your big boy pants on, or, you can continue imagining Subaru named the concept after a toyota vehicle, had it styled unlike any other subaru, and decided to make it rear wheel instead of all wheel while on a whim. |
The toyota also has a ft-86 test mule that looks just like the third car, only with the toyota front end, as well as a "polished" preproduction model like the 4th car. The second car is chopped so badly it looks like sheet metal was slapped on the rear quarter panel, so the only thing "subaru" there is the first impreza frame that has lexus internals.

New here, i joined the month before you!!!! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! We are all "technically" new here! This forum is just a baby still. But I migrated here from.....you guessed it!......a Subaru forum.....or three.
I read it before you posted the link. And although i think it would be beneficial for us all to believe what Moto wrote, all i see on this forum is a whole lot of "scion quality" "toyota quality".....Subaru gets the short end of the stick. And for some reason people here seems to think that a company investing in another company means that they are "hurting financially".....why the hell would Toyota buy into a company that is failing then have them do the leg work on making a new car for the two of them? Subaru does great on their own.....and who wouldn't want to make a new car with someone else footing the bill. Go watch all the video on YouTube produced by Toyota about the ft86 development and you will see how all they talk about is the d4s injection, styling, the handling while pointing at some charts and then showing some videos of the finished product driving around a course. Then go watch the Subaru equivalent where they show early test footage and cutaways of the car and explain how they mounted the engine, the struts and achieved that low center of gravity. I think Moto is just trying to quell the indifferences Subaru/toyota guys are having. When every official video from both companies shows me that Toyota funded and subaru did "most".....not all! .....but a good portion of the work. And dont get me started on scions. I guarantee you guys would all rather of got a gt86 than an FR-S. Then maybe so many of you wouldnt be trying to buy Toyota emblems or debadging. And there is no reason for "big boy pants " insults. You think insulting me with some shit you heard in a movie one time is going to make you sound clever? |

Secondly, I joined in february while you joined in april, not that it matters. I was following this and another forum dedicated to this car since september. Once this forum started taking off with more members and information I left there and signed up here. toyota investing If I recall correctly subarus stock was down and Toyota invested more at the request of the prime minister to "help japan" because subaru was losing other investors. I honestly don't care about the badge, I would have gotten a wrx if they had better designers, but to my eye and in my opinion subarus don't look great and for that I thank toyota for handling the design. I proudly wear my scion badge, just as I would if it were a toyota, or a subaru. I didn't need the extras, our like the mustache so I decided to save the 1300 for a Perrin exhaust. It only takes one car to turn a brand around. Before the subaru had the WRX there was the brat? At the end of the day the bottom line is that no matter who did what the twins are amazing cars irregardless of what badge is on your car. |

Just how the badging thing infuriates you, the whole "Toyota this, Toyota that" thing pisses me off and gets me ranting. Seems to me that Scion gets more credit that Subaru does on this forum......and Scion is just a different fascia Toyota created to market their cars to the "younger crowd". |

The reasons why I think this forum seems so FR-S heavy is twofold first, it's the very first forum grouping so all of the "combined" information gets dumped up there, and secondly with the first 86 program, the roll out parties, and the increased FR-S release volume putting more scions in our hands. If you get to the aftermarket section you see perrin and grimm both with brzs and much of it it pretty split. |
