What does the fox say now?

So I'm driving to work in the AM and two foxes decide they need to cross the road in front of me. Fox number one wisely ignores the two headlights coming at him, however, fox number two can't look away and eventually decides to go back the way he came. I knew I hit the little bastard but I really thought I just rolled him underneath as it didn't feel like much at all so I kept driving. All the way to work i'm feeling bad about the little guy when much to my surprise, he was still with me...

Fortunately for me I go to work quite early so it's dark. I can only imagine having everyone pointing to the front of my car trying to explain to me that there's a fox embedded in my grill.

WOW!!!! the grill is quite easy to pop out from the bumper...the lower passenger side corner is slightly off even though i didn't run into anything...probably a rock or something hit it and knocked it off

was it still somewhat alive when you got to your destination? hahaha twitching and stuff? haha

Ah that is sad - I wish there we could come up with something that would allow an option for smaller animals to get across our roads safely; it must be so frightening and confusing for them to be roaming about in the darker lighting and suddenly have two blinding lights that are right at, or above their level coming at them.

I'm always looking out for small critters and driving more cautiously during the earlier AM, and later PM hours. There are a lot of cats in my neighborhood that are used to cars, and don't even hurry while they're crossing the street with you coming at them unless you honk.

The poor little fox :( - it looks like your car didn't suffer much damage though, I believe you should be able to pull the grille towards you to get it to snap back into place.

OMG LOL wtf LOL very hillbilly-ish...

I feel bad for the fox...you dragged his dead carcass all the way to work. I wonder if there was any cars on the road saw the fox smashed through your front grill...

Yeah I felt horrible about it but there was little to no time for reaction. Unfortunately the fox broke several of the plastic clips that hold the grill in place and also severely cracked the bottom of the bumper cover. Body shop estimates were between $775 and $1000 to repair the car. Although I've loved the car and it's been a blast to drive, I've had horrible luck with hit. About a year ago I was 2 cars behind someone who turned in front of another car, was t-boned, and one of the cars bounced back into my car. Not hard enough to knock me out of my lane but the entire left side of the car had to be replaced - close to 10k.

The fox was the final straw. Sadly I traded the car in last Friday.

Ah, yeah - those estimates are ridiculous. I imagine it would be cheaper to buy a whole new bumper color-matched from the factory.

And yeah - it does seem like these cars do have bad luck, the sad fact is even if you had a Carolla I'm sure the guy would have just gone under the car instead of getting scooper up in the grille like that and causing all of that damage.

Best of luck with your new vehicle!
