They mention the springs are softer than the BRZ, but I've read opposite elsewhere. Who's right?

FR-S: Softer front springs, stiffer dampers; Same rear springs, differently valved dampers

A couple things I like about this video over others.

1. No bs, straight into the car.

2. The smile on this guys face while sliding around a track says it all.

Rode in a BRZ and FR-S

How / why are the rears differently valved? Which do you think would make a better daily driver?

They are designed to have slightly different driving characteristics, the differences of which you probably wouldn't notice unless you're really pushing the car. Which would make a better daily driver? Take your pick! Neither one is going to feel that much different on the street in terms of comfort. All you need to decide is whether to get the no-frills FR-S or the more well-optioned BRZ.

Hmmmm

So, I was able to get a test drive in an FR-S recently and noticed that the ride seemed less harsh than the BRZ at low speeds. I did not get a chance to compare high speeds.

With the BRZ, I could pretty much feel every rock on the pavement, which honestly did not feel very good. With the FR-S, it feels a little softer / more rubbery, like a stiffer version of a really old Integra.

Even more impatient to get mine now
