Better wind it up to at least 5k before dumping the clutch or this slug will make you pay dearly...

60': how long it takes your car to travel the first 60 feet of the track - this number is indicative of how well the car is launched, as well as how much traction the car has off the line.

Trap: short for trap speed. The 'trap' is the finish line where the track is set up to measure vehicle speed. This is mostly indicative of how much power the car makes.

ET: Elapsed Time - 1/4 mile time.

These are generalized explanations, as all the numbers have an impact on the rest. To an experienced racer, all the numbers on a time slip come together to tell a story.

Last time I took it I kept running 15.0 consistant, with this new setup Im kicking a new 2013 Si by 3 car lengths and a 2011 Mercedes (??) by 2 cars... so I should be in the mid 14s.

Do you have time slips we can look at? You should definitely be quicker than 15.0 even on stock tires.

*KID* 04-05-2013 01:07 AM

I need to look for the slips...I was getting 60fts of 2.5

This is where you will need to learn how to slip the clutch on launch. Looks like you're getting WAY too much wheelspin. You would probably cut a better 60' just rolling off the line with a 3k clutch slip..

*KID* 04-05-2013 01:44 PM

Yea I got the hang of it already but the track down here sucks ass, I got rock chips on my front bumper and fender so I dont think Ill be going till I get my clear bra installed.

pituala 04-05-2013 08:10 PM

Practice...practice....practice. Great launches come with a lot of practice. Try different tire pressures (no lower than 20-24psi). Are you power shifting?

Your car DEFINITELY has a faster run in it...you just have to coax it out ;)

Thanks... Took some practicing. Getting the perfect launch RPM is the key to a proper 60ft. For me, a good burnout along with a 5.8k rpm launch is the key for it. Tried raising the rpm more, ended with a worse 60ft due to wheel spin.

Check the vid and u will notice how my launch was done:burnrubber:

Btw, my car has 165whp and 132tq

Here is my best 1/4 results first time drag racing my FR-S at Fayetteville Drag Strip in NC. Temperature around the 70's.

Reaction .6924
60FT 2.3735
1/8 72.64
1/4 15.4469
1/4 RPM 91.35

The only thing I removed was the spare tire, had stock tires, Perrin LCP. Nothing else fancy. Launched the car @ 3000RPM without causing any spin issue, no burn outs to warm up tires. I will try to hit 4K, work on my reaction time more, and reduce more weight in the trunk to see what will happen the next time. Hopefully under 15's. Tire pressure I don't know what the best psi would be suitable for 1/4 mile.

itdansharpe 05-23-2013 01:11 PM

First and only run, base tune FBM Base kit, 9psi, automatic, tons of tire spin:

I still want to get to the strip, should be able to hit 13's NA

14.9 with 9psi turbo??? you should be running over a second faster. I'd say mid 13's.

you need to practice more:happy0180:

I'm a bit concerned myself, not being new to running ET's. Things I could have improved:

- Base tune (runs rich and less power)
- Turn off TC completely.
- 1/4 tank instead of a full tank.
- I was shifting around 7300, perhaps I should have waited longer.
- Hot tires

I'm a little sad that I came in that slow, I'm really hoping the car is capable of more, even if it is an automatic.

no offence - I don't think the car is the problem. 14.7's have been pulled off by a good driver in a bone stock car.

as I said - I think you need more practice

Edit: just noticed you are in an automatic. stock autos get low 16's I think. in that 14.9 is OK, but with 9psi I would think you would be at least in the low 14's or better. (not much practice needed in an auto where you just mash the throttle)

We will see soon enough. I have another tune file waiting for me from Visconti Tuning.

Dipstik-sportech 06-22-2013 06:39 PM

13.71 @ 106.3 with a full blown base kit at 7.5psi base tune. Stock tires with a 2.3 60ft. At BIR at the maperformance event.

Kwaziekeller 07-01-2013 05:15 PM

Went to a local track the other night, low 70deg temps in late June are rare here lol. Was a good night, had some 10.5 outlaw cars out and it was slow so they prepped and dragged the track a few times here and there. Only a 1000' track tho....

60': 2.202
330': 6.176
1/8th: 9.498 @ 74.88mph
1000': 12.143 @ 86.74mph

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...630_005749.jpg

Lowered the stock Michilen's to 28psi, only "power mods" are an aFe drop in air filter, muffler delete and Perrin lightweight crank pulley. Other than that... I've got Hotchkis springs and SPC lower control arms with the rear camber at about -.1 deg (almost straight up, aka not great for cornering but good for tire wear and straight line stuff). The 12.14 was with a cooled off car and warmed up slightly (below normal op temp at start), ran 12.4xx all night with a heat soaked engine tho.

Simmons 07-14-2013 01:24 AM

So I went to the drag strip tonight. I couldn't have picked a worse night to go, 84 degrees and 100% humidity.

I only got 5 runs in. I was having problems on my first run getting traction and spun 1st and 2nd gear. After that I got better launches.

My best was a 14.40 at 97.41 mph.

(Frustrating?) side note: This electric family car with a curb weight of 4,670 lbs got 12.37 @ 110.84 mph (stock configuration).

thats not surprising considering the power it makes

Ummm. How much does that cost again?

With 240 hp our cars would already have the same weight to power ratio.

WRBRZ 07-17-2013 06:44 PM

I'm glad people are taking their BRZ's to the track. Straight line car, or not, it has so much potential to be quick. Light weight, decent gearing, RWD, and a motor that seems to hold up well to starter F/I kits.

Has anybody done a pass with a non-stock clutch/flywheel? Maybe an FX300 kit? I'm throwing in that setup, and an SRT headerback, and am interested to see what it'll pick up off the line.

troek 07-17-2013 08:31 PM

with the right tires and 300 whp these cars could easily get into the 12s. its cool to see them hit 13s on the stock tires.

Dipstik-sportech 07-18-2013 12:05 AM

Well in a few weeks I'll be heading to the track again with 26" drag radials and 120 more whp. Should be exciting, I'm taking bets on what will break first tranny, diff or axles lol

Last time I went to the track was may 1st
Englishtown raceway park
60' - 2.327

I weigh around 280lbs
I will be going to island dragway tonight and hopefully better my time. I will update you all if I do.

Dipstik-sportech 08-07-2013 10:56 PM

Well it didn't break!!! Managed a 12.2 @ 115.98mph with a 1.9sec 60ft. Going again in 3 weeks to try for 11's on pump gas.

i ran 15.3 at 92mph at e town last week. got alot of wheel hop in 1st

stockysnail 08-08-2013 04:22 PM

A couple guys with Innovate superchargers both running around 240ish whp got low 14s with the best getting 14.08. I know they could have broken the 14 second mark if they were better drivers.

Took the AT to the track for laughs.
60 - 2.6
1/4 - 15.3
Mph - 94

We had no wheel spin at all it was just rolling off the line really slow LOL...
225/45/17
no spare or jack on E85
(Just to add we had multiple runs and I'm not SURE if that was the 15.3 run in the video or not but all had the same slow 60 foot..)
