If I recall correctly there was an auto listing their run some time back around 16 seconds.

I think with the latest tune I am making a little more. I will probably go back to the dyno after the Borla header is in.

Went to the strip today for the first time ever. Ran a 14.979 first run, then tried to launch at higher RPMs and spun my wheels and had two 15.1s.

Mods: FSTi rims with old RE01Rs, Borla UEL header and cat back. Hoping my tires will grip better when it's warmer out and get closer to 14.5.

First, I love drag racing, and can't wait to get out and see what I can get out of the 86. My goal is to beat my stock 4-door Si time of 14.799.

Then factor in a 1.9 60' and slightly better acceleration from a smaller / lighter wheel & drag tire combo and you are looking at a 98-99 mph trap with zero power mods.
A 99 mph trap with a 1.9 60' and a 2400 lb car is good for a 13.9.

I'm not dismissing your disclaimer in this critique, just want to help a little with the theory. I enjoy some good bench racing as much as the next guy.

If you improve the 60' time without increasing power, you will improve the 1/4 et, but reduce the trap speed. If you factor in the expected slight increase in acceleration from the lighter wheels/smaller diameter tires, you might negate the reduction in trap caused by the faster 60' and trap the same 97mph.

I think bolt-ons, a tune & a good driver will net low 14's (.1, .2, .3). 13's should definitely be attainable on corn...

havent taken mine to the track after the tune... I did 188whp and 155ft tq with just Tune, OP and HFC...ive added a Works DIF but add another 1hp lol

Last time I took it I kept running 15.0 consistant, with this new setup Im kicking a new 2013 Si by 3 car lengths and a 2011 Mercedes (??) by 2 cars... so I should be in the mid 14s.

Nice! Put some fatter, stickier tires on it and possibly low 14s?

*KID* 04-03-2013 02:03 AM

Yes definitely...Fish tails pretty much all first gear off launch, my 2nd gear pulls really hard though

What is a safe RPM to launch at, theoretically? I am terribad at launching and afraid to burn up my clutch/break my drivetrain lol. Also, what are the differences between 60', Trap and ET? What tire pressure do you guys run?

Better wind it up to at least 5k before dumping the clutch or this slug will make you pay dearly...

best run is 14.88@94mph with an injen intake only

60': how long it takes your car to travel the first 60 feet of the track - this number is indicative of how well the car is launched, as well as how much traction the car has off the line.

Trap: short for trap speed. The 'trap' is the finish line where the track is set up to measure vehicle speed. This is mostly indicative of how much power the car makes.

ET: Elapsed Time - 1/4 mile time.

These are generalized explanations, as all the numbers have an impact on the rest. To an experienced racer, all the numbers on a time slip come together to tell a story.
