I just did some track testing myself. One run on the factory tune and another on a custom tune. I have full exhaust (no cats), throttle body spacer, silicone intake tubing and intake manifold spacers. stock tires. Just for additional info, when we were done dyno tuning we took the air filter out and made a run with no measurable gains. All tuning and track runs were made in Florida (close to sea level) at about 85 degrees. I made about 8 runs each trip and backed up each of these times with similar times.

This is using the gps device dragy, I have compared it to video runs and it seems to be consistently .1-.2 seconds slower (delayed). All in all seems pretty accurate.
57 degrees, 92octane, no weight reduction with a 2500rpm launch with an auto. First 1/8th was flat, second 1/8th was slight incline. ET on 1/8th 74.98 and ET 1/4th 92.89, 60ft 2.35seconds (I’ve heard/seen dragy is really accurate but not for 60ft times) Grimmspeed intake, BPB, ace 250, header back, 4th e-tune revision, 4.556 fd swap. auto shifts to 3rd at about 54, and 4th at about 83, so not “optimized” for 0-60 / 1/4mile. But still .3 sec faster in both vs 4.1 fd which didn’t require that extra shift. |
14s in a n.a. auto ain't bad.

The 2500rpm launches vs 4500 in manual slows the 0-60/1/4 mile down almost a second from what I’ve seen stock vs stock comparisons. But on a roll I bet I’m just as fast if not faster then most bolt on MTs. |

I’d love to see full bolt on MT (no E85) 0-60/1/4th without a launch. Or even a verified 60-100 time. I know stock MT typically 6.8-7.2 depending on 91-93 and weather, Auto is 7.8-8.2 same factors. Under perfect ideal scenario I’ve seen 6.4 vs 7.4, however from a 5 roll I’ve seen MT was only .2 faster then auto. Which leads me to believe .8seconds is from the launch .2 from gearing, with auto FD swap gearing isn’t a factor and might even now be in my favor. . So .8 sec faster from launch alone. |

14 second quarters, in a relatively torqueless 2.0 four popper , ain't bad at all. That's smack-in-the-middle of late 80's pony car territory, which again is also right in the middle of 1960's muscle car era territory. What once was considered such good performance that they actually wrote songs about it, is now considered below average. Funny how growing up with nothing but late model cars can skew perspective. |
Funny how my frs with 1000$ of mods is "slow" yet would pull on my 68 lemans all day long and get twice the mileage.

More of a road course guy but the drag strip is fun every now and again. First time I took my FRS out last year the track was rained out and I was only able to make one pass where I spun all the way down the track, ended up running a high 15 or something silly so I didn't post it.
Went again a week or so ago and go rained out again but had slightly better luck, was able to run a 3-4 passes. Car still has a lot left in it just because I have a lot to learn on launching the car without excessive wheel spin. Shame I wasn't able to make more passes as I'm confident I could have hit a 12 with some more practice. NA / AUTO / 92octane / 3/4th tank gas/ 2k rpm launch with tires completely cold (idled in garage 8mins, drove 2miles, sat at longest stop light of my life then tested car was warm but not tires) so they where just spinning for a sec before hooking. Hard to find time/place to do more testing with my new work schedule.
With warm tires I can launch and hook right away at 2400rpm, I’ve had quicker 60ft and 0-20mph times and done a bit of mods since hence overall faster times. So fastest 1/4 and trap so far. Need to retest with 1/4tank and better launch without spinning. Thinking I can hit 6.5sec flat 0-60 and 14.7 flat in the 94mph range if i do that. |
Went and made two passes at the last test n tune of the season. It was quite cold...
Ran on melted spark plugs wires, and way too little of tire, but it was fun. Spun for the first 100ft, backpedaled but couldn't get the grip back. Now to get a tune, and tires, and return in the spring. Ran 12.53 at 116mph, with traction and a proper tune, I should probably see 11.90's in the spring. https://print.spitsnaugle.com/img/s/...41821940-5.jpghttps://print.spitsnaugle.com/img/s/...41804105-5.jpg [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjI8qz9f9Ks[/ame] |
