Should i wait for this car or not

Hi, i am new here and i really love the way this concept came out and especially like the fact that it's likely going into production around 2011 or even sooner(hopefully).

Well, i have a 1989 supra as my daily driver and i don't know how much longer she will last(280,000 km's), although she is not showing any signs of problems

Anyways, i was hoping that Toyota was going to make a new Supra but that's not the case, so i was thinking of buying a new car.(GTI /CIVIC SI / OR maybe a used g35)

Now that Toyota showed this car i decided to hold up a bit.

Should i buy a new car or should i wait ?

I'm gonna follow this car for a bit and see what happens personally. I would wait

I would wait as well. I was thinking of trading my S in for a Nismo 370 but now I'm going to wait and see what the production model ends up being before making a decision.

^^ I'm in the same boat as well. S2k owners slowly switching to this car seems to be a pretty common thought. The FT-86 has nearly the same dimensions as the S2000.

I'm considering purchasing a 94-95 Viper around the 30k price but will wait to see what happens with this car.

Wait, especially if your car isn't experiencing any problems. If Toyota can make a throwback kind of sports car back to the Supra / MR2, then you'll have regretted switching to another car. At least wait for the performance specs of the production car to be announced before doing anything.

How many more miles will you put on your Supra in the next 1-1.5 years?

2nd. If you aren't seeing any signs of issues and are comfortable driving it for a while longer, might as well hold out as long as you can.

Do any of you guys know when Toyota will show the engine, transmission, and weight specs, knowing this will either make me wait or not.

That's not that much at all. She should hold up just fine. Just be sure to maintain her as you always have during this stretch.

No idea when they are releasing any more specs on the car. Many of us were hoping that they would have given more info at the unveiling this week in Tokyo.

I'm in a similar situation but wondering if I should sell my car now or wait until the FT86 comes out to sell.

I'm afraid that the S2k will just lose value over the year or two that I wait, and I have the option of "borrowing" a family members car if I sell the S.

Be patient, my friend. Your new car will come.

Well, with an 04 model car, the steepest part of depreciation has already occurred for your car, so it won't lose nearly as much value over the next 1-2 years as it already has. That said, if you still enjoy driving your S2k then why not hold onto it and enjoy it until the FT-86 comes out (unless of course the family member's car you can borrow is just as much fun to drive :)).

I'd keep it unless you really can't, when you get the FT. I plan on keeping my S and having the FT both sitting in the garage. What a wonderfully hard decision it will be on which one to drive.
