WARNING: Think I was scammed by Norcal86

Norcal86 responded to my "WTB:UEL HEADER" thread saying he was getting rid of his car and offered to sell me his Borla UEL header. I agreed and made payment via Paypal. He said he would be removing it this past weekend and mail it out Saturday or Monday. He told me he would update me when it shipped. It's now going on Thursday and he's not answering my Pm's or emails... :sigh:
Should have just ordered the Tomei UEL from Evasive Motorsports like I originally planned...

calmtigers 10-15-2014 08:36 PM

I would wait at least until Friday... also might be a little premature to make a post claiming you were scammed some people get busy.

However, if you have been scammed (still skeptical) just do a paypal dispute and they'll get you your money back.

Which is why I said THINK.

Squishy86 10-15-2014 08:49 PM

You're not the only one. He took payments from me, @MrTranxD, and @Cop for OFTs that he was selling. He hasn't responded to any of us since last Wednesday and we have already filed dispute.

This is what I was looking for....I knew he was "selling" other products to other members. Want to say glad I'm not alone but at the same time I don't. Sorry to hear it I filed one too..

So he took 3 payments for 2 tablets he was selling? Definitely scammed everyone.

Cop 10-15-2014 11:51 PM

Add @drambo136 to the list. Similar to me and Squishy, we made the payment to Norcal86 and haven't heard a word from him since.

EAGLE5 10-16-2014 12:45 AM

Yeah, never do Paypal to buy something by doing a giving of money. No recourse there. Sorry you guys were scammed.

I think he meant to say gifting instead of giving.

Then you were smart. You can, however, gift people money and not take a fee. However, you lose all recourse when you do that. My brother gifted me money to pay for a track day once, my birthday present, and there was no fee for me to receive the money. There's just no way for him to stop the transaction once I accept it.

MrTranxD 10-16-2014 03:25 AM

I think that makes 5 people. Add @jester04 to the list. As long as none of us gifted him the money, well be fine. Just file a claim on paypal and you should be fine.

Forum classified rules have already instated a zero-tolerance rule for requesting gifted money through Paypal, though, so (assuming people actually read the rules) it shouldn't even be an issue. If anyone is still naive enough to "gift" money to a stranger over the internet... well...

MrTranxD 10-16-2014 03:36 AM

He didnt request to send through gift or anything in his thread. When he sends the invoice, he requests it as a gift. I saw that and was like nope, changed it to goods and services.

jester04 10-16-2014 08:09 AM

I paid him before cop but i never posted in the thread. And then he had told me he was shipping on saturday. Tried to reach him in the past few days with no updates, so i decided to contact Mr. Tran to see if he was having the same problem and then he linked me to this lol.

No one reported his threads for other rule violations though.. which would have resulted in his account being banned and threads deleted.

I recall seeing this last week... I reported his FS thread for lack of pictures.

@Norcal86 only has 19 posts since May. I know this isn't always the case, but in the future, everyone should avoid buying something from a member with such little input on the forums. They're not well known and very difficult to track down. Always go with a reputable member or vendor.

Damn I didn't see the report then :( I would have banned.

Cop 10-16-2014 03:41 PM

Oddly enough, I accidentally gifted him the money on Paypal via eCheck. Norcal was the one that suggested that I cancel the check and charge him the seller fees.

Did you cancel it on time then?

Well, perhaps he is in trouble and actually honest. It COULD happen.

Edited the threads but I'll leave his account for now just in case he's not scamming.. although that looks unlikely.

Yea, I cancelled it before sending the payment in which he was the seller.

This is what I was thinking initially before talking to some of the other members on this thread. Seems unreasonable for Norcal to take more payments than he has supply for and completely fall off the face of the Earth which is why I filed a claim immediately after hearing some of the other complaints.

EAGLE5 10-16-2014 04:52 PM

I'm just being overly generous with my lack of certainty that he's a bad person.

Very Odd?

raven1231 10-16-2014 04:58 PM

How is this still in debate? He claimed he had two cars his and his girlfriends. Then he was selling both of there OFT's. However he took payment from five members.... I don't see how he could be seen as honest even in the slightest.

tigermack 10-16-2014 05:08 PM

File a dispute, you can still do that via gift. My friend done it before.

LOL find him and ask him to give back the money lol. I sent him the money the first time, then he refunded it, saying he refunded the wrong person. Then requested it as gift, but i noticed that and changed it to goods, then sent payment and never heard from him again.

Red flag right here! He did the same thing to me, he said he refunded me on accident since he wanted to refund cop, he told me i sent payment first. But he never asked for it gifted though.

jher 10-16-2014 08:33 PM

Same here too. He said he hadn't sold it yet so paid him paypal. Have waited a week no tablet. Email him and No responds. Just file a claim with paypal. I didn't post on the thread, just pm'd him.

jher 10-16-2014 08:46 PM

This is Norcal86 email that he want PayPal sent to. Just want to put this out there and see if people got different email from him.
