I dig it. Did you just tape it off and get to spraying? Did you use cans and a ladder?

Yeah masked off the area covered the rest of the car in tarps took my time lots of light coats. Did about 5 light coats 30 minutes in between then one last heavier coat after about 4 hours came out streak free and even, better than some of the plasti dip attempts I have seen.

Well, it looks like you took a can of black spray paint from the hardware store, and sprayed the top of your car. Nothing less, nothing more.

You are very observant, cuz that is pretty much exactly what I did.

Why would you want your new car to look like it was poorly painted? If you're going to do it, do it right, especially with a $20,000 car.

As I said earlier it was more of a test than anything I wanted to see if I would like the black roof, didn't want to spend a ton of money to find out that I hated it. I figured the plasti dip is a easy way to do it without damaging the paint. most people that have seen it in person have said it looks good. At the end of the day there is always going to be haters, but it is my car and as long as I like it that is all that matters.

Since when was Plasti dipping such a bad thing on here?
There must be thousands of gallons of the stuff used on cars in this forum!

MrAnthonyC 10-14-2014 02:31 PM

I think it looks good. The picture isn't doing anything any justice so expect the majority of comments to be negative. As long as you're happy with how it looks, that's what matters most. I think it was a good idea to plasti-dip and test it out..peels right off if you change your mind.

BTW..always admired this one:
