Oil leaked through oil filter
Hi guys, I am looking for some opinions on this occurrence that has happened to me today.
Was at a rather reputable shop for a quick oil change and the tech at the shop used the wrong sized oil filter, thus creating a massive leak as the rubber seal gave way. Next thing I knew engine oil spewed all over the engine bay. The shop promptly cleaned the engine bay area but alas there were still spots of oil in tight spaces that can't be get rid of. What I would like to know is, are there any specific parts of the engine that I should make sure it's clean and will there be any hazards such as the residual oil reaching flash point and catching on fire? I apologize if this sounds ridiculous to be worried about but it's my first time encountering such an issue. Any insight would be nice. Lesson learnt too though, never trust a shop completely and double check their work always. Thanks. TL;DR oil spew all over my engine, should I keep a look out for any specific things? |
make sure there isn't any oil on top of the exhaust manifold underneath the block.
that thing gets incredibly hot. |
