AT Deserve love too - SSP Clutches Teaser -- // DSG Performance Exclusive
Within the next few weeks, the brand new SSP clutch packs for the AT Twins will be dropping - exclusively at DSG Performance.
There will be 2 versions, Stage 1 & Stage 2 to cater to the different power levels one may see in their high horsepower builds. Stage 2 will not be available for purchase at initial release. Testing was wrapped up this past week and the first batches are official in production. We're stoked! Okay, I'm planning out upgrades for my AT but I have to ask, will this offer any performance changes unless I pair it with more HP / Torque? I'm purely stock engine wise right now.

is the auto more beefier than the Manual? I've heard of torque converters melting, I don't do hard launches, do you think the TQ converter is a weak point or the clutch packs? I am not sure if I should put money into re-inforcing the current AT transmission or get something else all together. My goal is about 400whp, currently at 300whp.

I don't think anyone has broked an auto yet even at some pretty decent power. Manuals are popping in the 400 TQ range on grippy tires. Don't get me wrong you need to "work" the auto but typically once you get the line pressure right and you don't slip the clutches they will be pretty robust!
Autos have other integration issue with mods etc. so it's not downside free. |

The BRZ/FRS have a factory stall of 2540 +/- 150 rpm. A stall converter would benefit both a turbo or N/A car. A torque converter is essentially the automatic transmission's equivalent to a clutch. It transfers power from the engine to the transmission. It acts as a fluid coupling connecting engine rotational power to the transmission’s input shaft. It multiplies torque from the engine when additional performance is desired. A typical torque converter will have a torque multiplication ratio in the area of 2.5:1. The main point to remember is that all properly functioning torque converters do indeed multiply torque during initial acceleration. The torque converter also serves another extremely important function in a car. The engine must be able to connect and disconnect from the differential, so the vehicle can stop moving while the engine is still running and the transmission is in gear. In the case of an automatic transmission, it is the torque converter that performs this connect/disconnect function and allows a car’s engine to idle while it’s in gear. |
So this is for FI guys? It wouldn't benefit a tuned N/A with full bolt-ons?
