Possibility of ripping paint off from debadging?

I debadged my rear frs emblem earlier.

Tools:hair dryer on low mode
hand squeegee much like the one you find in ft86speedfactory.

Tutorial used: ft86speedfactory

After debadging i noticed a chip in the paint down to the metal. (stick you finger nail in and you can feel it stick when you try to move at all.)

TL;DR

Is it possible to take off all the layers of paint including clearcoat off when removing a badge?

Yeah....unfortunately. The paint on these cars is absolutely horrilbe.

I plastidipped my badges and a pea-sized chunk of paint came all the way off my bumper down to the plastic from one layer removed via peeling. These clearcoat is obviously built to withstand a brutal environment of fairy hugs and butterfly kisses.

@fatalelement did you use floss to remove your badges? I plan to do the scion f/r net but i definitely do not want to deal with paint peeling off.

I didn't even take them off I just plastidipped in place. I'm gonna import a style sports bumper from Japan so I'm not gonna bother fixing mine

Blow dryer and plastic razor blades. That combo worked perfect for mine. DO NOT DO THIS MOD IF YOU HAVE NO PATIENCE. Lol I cannot stress that enough. If the glue gets too tough reheat. It's worth the extra 3 minutes.

Hum... maybe I should ask my local VAG body shop to re-finish the BRZs paint with their clear coat when mine arrives. I had a car re-finished by them & after that it almost impossible to mark when washing.

Wow I'm glad I didnt read this thread before I debadged or I probably wouldnt have done it. I just peeled the FR-S badge off on a warm sunny day with no issues whatsoever.
