Front Sway Bar Removal

Quick questions (without looking underneath car). If I'm just removing my front sway bar, do I need to put the brackets they bolt onto back on the car? Do they serve any other purpose?

Uhm. From what I am seeing you are asking of the actual brackets that the bar attaches to are needed? Yes they are very much needed, if you are running the sway bar. I would still put them back on if you are running no sway bar, but that's just me.

I'm not asking if they are needed if I'm running the sway bar lol. Just asking if they have any other function (support?) other than holding the sway bar in place.

Um that looks pretty important... I see the engine and transmission attached to a crossmember and the part you want to remove looks like it connects that crossmember to the unibody. But hey, leave it off and see what happens. YOLO weight reduction

K I'll leave it on. Thanks you dude with million posts for scientific explanation.

I'd put them back on immediately before you drive the car. They appear to be a major structural bracing member connecting the LCA suspension points to the chassis. Just because the swaybar bolts to them doesn't mean that's their only purpose.

On a related note... Why exactly are you removing the front swaybar?

No front sway means drift machine.

Just wanna test out how it feels, for drifting specifically. Also would be nice to eliminate endlink bind. FC feels good with no front sway, so im gonna give it a shot.

Just to be clear, I was referring to reinstalling the chassis braces/crossmember brackets before driving, not the swaybar. I forgot drifters do some odd things with suspension setups sometimes, so no front sway makes perfect sense to maintain as much front end grip as possible.

No sway bar for drifting is awesome btw.

Running without rears also? Or just the front sway and end links?

Revived from the dead lol:burnrubber::burnrubber:
