Checked out an FR-S and BRZ yesterday, parked my MR2 next to 'em

Hey guys,

Yesterday my friend Ahmed at McGee Scion posted a pic of the Argento FR-S they got in on Facebook, so I told him I'd shoot over after work. I also learned that my friend Kevin would be picking up his SWP BRZ Limited at Planet Subaru down the street that day. I called Kevin as I was getting out of work to find that he was still at the dealership, so I stopped to see the Scion quickly then shot down the street to see the Subaru.

Brief impressions: I like the FR-S in person much better than in pictures for some reason. It just looks a little plain jane in pictures, but when you see the scale of it in person, it looks much nicer. The "86" fender badges look really great, and I wish the Subie had something like this to give it a little more class. I admit that I like the FR-S front bumper better, especially after seeing the BRZ's "mustache" on a white car where it's most prominent. The seats were under plastic but I took a peek at the fabric and I like them, too. Just wouldn't want them in an Ultramarine car. I'd get a Firestorm FR-S if I were to get a Scion. The factory head unit looks TERRIBLE, but the manual HVAC knobs look less tacky in person. I think when I see them in pictures they're taken with a flash which distorts the colors. In person they're just plain black and don't look that bad.

I've seen a BRZ Limited before so this wasn't much of a surprise, though I did take note after reading so many times just how light the clutch is! The shifter feel is fantastic, and the steering wheel really is just the right size. I sat in one before, but this was a nice reminder that I'm getting a great driver's car!

Took a couple pics of the BRZ next to my MR2. Damn, old cars really were so much smaller! An older couple stopped by last minute to see Kevin's BRZ before they put it back inside - he wasn't able to pick it up yesterday.

I've actually grown quite fond of the mu-stahsh on the BRZ. What was your impression of the "fang" lip on the Scion in person?

I liked it much more than I thought I would. No GT86, but still good.

Hehe, thanks. It's a 20-footer, for sure. I gotta replace the transmission and front struts, then I can pay attention to body work and paint, if I don't just make it a straight track car after getting the BRZ.
