Where are all the LADIES?

So there is a lot of males on here talking about these vehicles and owning them....I am just wondering where are all the women who are interested in the FR-S or BRZ? When I bring up this car to my friends they literally have NO idea what I am talking about, therefore I only speak to my guys about the newly released vehicles.

I plan to buy within a year or two, after I pay off my Scion tC. I am just waiting for the best timing on my financial schedule to purchase the FR-S. What can I say - I like to shop and pay off other bills (college) before I just get stuck in a loan once more.

Alright, so all your girls.....do you own one yet? Plan to? Can you drive stick? lol...and guys - what do you think about females owning/driving one of these cars? Too much horsepower? HA- not enough for me...but that's a whole other topic. Let's just say my left leg has more muscle then the other.

I want the manual whiteout FR-S. At first I preferredthe Raven but I think white is just more classy. Plus - it will match my other vehicle. I don't really plan to take it on the track or anything, just drive to work, events, other places and have fun living my life (while looking good in my new FR-S).

I just pointed two girls on different occasions, to the dealership for their pre-orders. Both are getting theirs sometime in July.
One even ordered a manual too. :D
One in Whiteout, and other in Ultramarine Blue.

So I know in Southern California, there are at least two I know who are female owners of Scion FRS.
Soon to join us along this epic growing group of owners. :D

Following are photos from our Club4AG's first FRS meet at a local gathering, where 7 Scion FRS did show up.
Unfortunately, the girls who ordered the FRS were there in person, but without cars yet...

4 whiteout, 1 Raven, 1 Firestorm, 1 Hot Lava.

Nice! Too bad I can't see the photos now (blocked at work) but I will definitely check them out later. Tell them to come join us on here!

more pic of the second car on the end!

My girlfriend is dying for me to get my BRZ! She drives a manual Impreza and loves my Audi S4 and Toyota MR2. Maybe I can talk her into getting one someday!

there aren't any women on the internet

Bristecom 06-02-2012 06:49 PM

Let's face it, girls typically aren't the type to obsess over cars like guys do. But I think this car will appeal to many women. It's sporty looking, not overly powerful, fun, compact, and affordable. It'll never become Miata status with women though as it is that little bit more aggressive. But yeah, I think it would be cool to see girls driving this car and I would be interested to hear from them why they liked it enough to buy it over other new cars.

terrypm 06-02-2012 07:06 PM

The FR-S in my profile picture is my wifes daily driver Monday thru Friday. For the past 5 years she drove a 2006 Miata. She said once you go small it is hard to drive anything else. As luck would have it her name was drawn as the First86 winner.

I doubt we'll see too many females gravitate to this car. It's not a convertible, so it's not going to pull anyone from the Miata, and Scion already has a car that's extremely popular with young women - the tC.

Have you looked at facebook / pintrest / farmville. OMG I can keep going.
Good try though. They aren't on these types of sites because most women only care that their car is pretty and could care less about the details.

I've been lurking the forums and decided to finally register and post. But to answer your question, yes - there are female fans of the car out there because i am one of them. I've been following the scion FR-s since last year and put a deposit down about 2 weeks ago. I've always been a fan of Toyota and my favorite car was the Supra, that is, until the FR-S showed up!

I just got back from Longo Toyota in El Monte, ca and spoke to our sales rep about my order. seems that some of their first allocation still hasn't arrived just yet and their 2nd allocation won't be available until Tuesday. here's a bit more info for curious minds about what I found out:

Price - I did confirm that they are not marking up the costs and they are sticking to MSRP.
service - Longo seems to have a good reputation and I was pleased with their service so far.
Availability - MT most likely will not come in until July, there are a lot of orders that are pending. AT should be available this month.
Accessories - the sales folks say that they can install some of the OEM parts like the BeSpoke audio system at the dock but the five axis parts will be installed at the dealership, and will be ordered when your car gets in.
liscense plate - they do not drill holes in the bumper for your plates, I also checked their show model and confirmed it

I am really excited about the car and am trading my reliable rav4 in for it. :) it's great to hear about everyone's stories on here, keep the updates coming!

Talked to a girl who test drove the FR-S

While looking at an FR-S today the family that was test driving the car before me was car shopping for the daughter, so she drove it and we talked about the car after their drive and she and her father where very unimpressed with the power of the car. She couldn't believe how slow it was when she floored it. She was like 18-19, pretty hot too! :party0030:

Anyway, I'm test driving the same car on monday but I explained to the dad that the car as not suppose to be fast in a straight line, it was more of a handling car but they still decided to get something faster.

I am getting AT. It's been several years since I tried driving stick so i'd have to relearn it pretty much and it just makes me nervous w/ MT since ive got a long commute with bumper to bumper traffic to work. Also, My sister has an AT MR2 spyder and its still pretty fun to drive despite being AT. :)

Thanks!

One of local FR-S/BRZ fan told me the same thing. When she buys it (She's thinking of going buy BRZ next yr), she gonna go for AT. Yeah, this car's AT is a lot of fun! I had a blast driving both AT & MT. I haven't driven AT MR-S, but MT MR-S sure was fun driving!

If Ford made diesel V engine Mustang, that's gonna be hella fun to drive! I'm no Mustang fan, but think about all the crap load of TQ!!!

TeaBuoy 06-02-2012 08:57 PM

I saw a white FR-S on the road for the first time yesterday. I got really excited, caught up to get a better view, looked over, and my jaw dropped. It was a femi driving, and I gotta say..that's probably one of the most attractive things I've ever seen. I guess it didn't hurt that she was pretty attractive too. :)

Why would you want something faster for your 18 year old daughter? Sorry, that just seems weird, I'm not buying any son or daughter of mine something fast (or brand new for that matter)...let them work for it, like me. But in reference to girls and the FR-S...what's wrong with the passenger seat??? haha, but seriously my fiance is very excited for me to get mine, and apart from her already having a newish car, I would be very happy if I win her over on MT, RWD, lightweight, and small.

Yeah, that's pretty stupid wanting a high powered rear wheel drive car for an 18 year old girl. I mean, they have stability control now but still, why would someone like that need more power than an FR-S? Whatever...

I would never buy this car for any 18 year old (no matter the gender). Lots of Subaru and Toyota models I would consider, but not a low to the ground RWD sports car. I say this as someone who's first car was a RWD sports car....

Asterisked Accolade 06-03-2012 01:57 PM

I wouldn't expect many girls to be on a car website. A Mary Kay or Lia Sophia forum, sure. But many girls don't care enough about a car to join a forum.

My girlfriend has a manual Ultramarine on order with Jeff at Longo. She is also a forum member.

Could be that there aren't a lot of girls on here because... well, look at some of the responses to this thread. Can't speak for the ladies, but personally I try to avoid any place where I'm considered that much of an oddity.

(As for women drivers in general, my last serious girlfriend was a better performance driver than 90% of the guys I know. Drove a manual transmission JCW Mini, that she tinkered on and upgraded herself. Drove that car like she stole it, everywhere she went.)

Nice to see some of the ladies representing. I'm the "other" M in "M&M" - AND the First 86er AND a female. My hubby's been doing most of the posting because I'm too busy driving my new FR-S. Glad to be in good company of other women who appreciate the awesomeness that is this car. I got obsessed with Initial D about a year ago, then heard about the mythical "Toyobaru" in development, and about busted a gasket when I got moved off the wait list to be a First 86er. My new Asphalt baby is my pride and joy! And FYI it's an AT because I like paddles!

Lady right here and recently signed up. I'm waiting for my Manuel FRS still (saving up some backup money before going out on the hunt for one).

Right now I'm just learning all I can about the car since this a fairly new hobby for me.
