OPTICOAT PRO vs C. Quartz??

Anyone have experience with this? I'm getting this + a nano fusion clear bra put on my car by a very reputable shop (200+ reviews 5 stars) the clear bra will be 350, then i will either optic oat the rest of the car or quartz it, and the optic oat pro is 750, c. quartz is 499. Please share your opinions....

Also for an interior detail, is the dash and everything else leather? so i can just use leather cleaner on it? and then the alcantra i heard sonax is good for it. Thanks!

The best answer to this question actually comes from one of my favorite detailing forums:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...0-cquartz.html

A "competitor" of mine uses C-Quartz and I use OptiCoat, while neither of us have ran a battery of tests on our coatings, I can happily say that OptiCoat has lasted longer on my vehicles than the C-Quartz have on his.
OptiCoat is still prone to scratches and swirls, as it is a resin-based clear coat that you wipe on. The difference being that OptiCoat is much harder than factory clear coats and it is more hydrophobic than factory clear coats.
I wish I still had the Sky I did a year ago, or my brother's truck (which sits outside 24/7), both still bead water beautifully after a year of Opticoat.

But, as I said, the best review I've ever read/seen is the one above.

That's a great comprehensive review by Corey over at CarPro who is absolutely a top notch professional.

Here's another one for reference from a respected detailer in Malaysia.

Speaking with a detailer to set up an appointment to get my car coated, he told me some interesting things. Opticoat now requires you to revisit your detailer yearly to maintain your warrantee, and the warrantee has been reduced form lifetime to 5 years.

Since the nearest shop that does either is a 4 hour drive away, I will be going with the CQuartz Finest. Because of its cost, its gloss, and the ability to do small area touch ups. Not to mention having to make the 4 hour drive each way to the detailer just to maintain a warrantee.

I got opticoat pro back in Feb and car still looks better than new. Water beading is as good as it was on day 1, car is extremely easy to clean (although I typically wash weekly, so ymmv), and it does appear to resist scratches slightly. As great as it is, think hard about why you want it. I almost wish I had spent the money on xpel ultimate for the front end instead. I think a good clear bra to prevent rock chips + weekly washes will keep your car in better shape than opticoat + weekly washes. And I do miss clay barring/waxing. But it looks so good, I really can't complain :)

You can still clay it and will help clean the paint if you see it's hydrophobic properties lacking. Waxing though I agree, almost pointless to do with Opti-Coat on there.

Yup got opticoat a few months ago. Looked great but I think it's time for clay bar. Would like to add some slickness to it. Any suggestions?

If you want to purchase locally Meguiar's makes a good clay kit that can be purchased in store, it usually comes combined with their Quik Detailer.

For my favorite product I'd have to go with Nanoskin Fine Grade towel. It's bit more expensive but it's a re-usable clay towel that will last much longer than a tradition clay bar. In addition, if you drop it, all you have to do is wash it off instead of throwing it away. For clay lube I use either Optimum No Rinse or Ultima Waterless Wash, both great very economical products.

Check out a durability test I did on Opti-Coat. This will give you a lot of great info about the characteristics of this coating:

Just did an opticoat job on Saturday and Sunday. I'm impressed with their new version

While this is a comprehensive review, it was written in 2011. There is a newer version of C-Quartz now available. It appears that the updated version is more similar to the professional-detailer-only C-Quartz Finest.
