Studies say we're 3rd most ticketed, what is your story?
I'm sure you guys have all heard about it by now , the study saying that the FRS is the 3rd most ticketed car in the US. So prepare to be profiled.
What have you gotten tickets for in your twin? And your most ridiculous ticket you've received, and what vehicle? I have yet to receive anything in the BRZ, but I got a ticket on my old SV650 for operating a motorized vehicle on 1 wheel, was a super cool cop. |
Studies also showed that the study was full of crap.
|
I haven't gotten a ticket yet. Been about a year and 3 months.
|
Got a ticket in mine about 8 months in, took online traffic school and it went away.
Been a year plus since then without so much as a second glance from a cop. |
Got a ticket on the way home from picking the car up, 65 in a 45.
|
Got a ticket for posting on ft86club while driving. It's not that dangerous!
Sent from my iPhone using Ttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt |
Got a ticket few months ago. Cop says I was approaching 70+mph while I was only doing about 55. When I asked him how he got me for that speed, he said he was pacing.
Needless to say, I'm going to fight this non-sense. |
I've had my FRS since January and have gotten two tickets since then so sadly I am contributing to this statistic. First one was for doing a "rolling stop" in my neighborhood, literally 20 seconds from my old house. Didn't feel much like fighting it and since I haven't gotten a ticket in over 6 years I decided to just traffic school it and be done with it. Unfortunately for me, I moved to a new place with a very long, steep highway-ish road that I have to take to get to the freeway every morning. The speed limit in the area is 50mph but drivers regularly go in excess of 60 every morning. It just so happens that I was going 73mph early on a Friday morning when there was a cop with a speed gun waiting at the bottom. The officer was understanding and wrote me up for going in excess of 65mph instead of speeding at 73 in a 50 which was pretty cool of him. Since I don't want a point on my license I am taking it to court in hopes of the officer not showing up, or asking for a reduced fee from the judge. No experience in doing this but I thought I might as well try.
TLDR: Got two tickets within 7 months of owning an FRS |
Been pulled over twice so far.
Both took one look at me and asked "is this your car?" (thus my profile description) Each time the cop just wanted to know where I got the car and how I liked it. One bought me coffee! |
in the best year, been pulled over twice for tinted windows, (illegal to have driver and passenger side windows tinted in Jersey)
i tend to keep up with traffic, normally 5-10mpg over the speed limit, havent been bothered yet for speed |
got pulled over because the cop thought I came in driving too fast on the highway and exited it driving too fast as well. In reality, I was just trying to double the "suggested" speed limit on the ramps :D
|
I've never had a ticket, just don't go digging around my back yard.
|
94 in a 60.
Rage pass. Exactly what I told the officer. Slow-ass Canadian doing 50 in the fast lane. At least ten cars stacked up behind him. The slow lane opened up and I passed them. Sorry officer. Getting it turned into a non-moving violation. |
Haven't had a ticket yet, just a warning.
Given the affordable nature of this car, there are going to be more younger drivers driving up statistics like this. On second thought--where is the link to this study, OP? Or at least an article. I'd love to see the statistical breakdown by age. |
