Tomei Type 80R Review

I recently purchased the Tomei Type 80R through CounterSpace Garage, and I would like to share my feedback with you all here.

First of all, CSG did a great job getting it to me from California to Georgia in one business week's time. The box showed up in great form and everything was included in perfect condition. Thank you to CounterSpace Garage for this.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND THIS IS NOT WRITTEN FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THIS EXHAUST ACTING ALONE.
My exhaust setup before this included the following;
FT86SpeedFactory catted UEL header
Motiv Concepts Overpipe
Motiv Concepts catted Frontpipe
HKS Spec-L Lightweight Catback Exhaust

I decided to switch from the HKS catback to the Tomei because I really like the look of the single exit. There was nothing wrong and nothing that I didn't like about my HKS, I just wanted something different.

The installation and fitment of the Tomei was perfect, and the swap took me all of 30 minutes with a lift. Don't need to say anything else about that, short and sweet. ZERO issues with this.
Note to the lowered folks: This exhaust DOES tend to hang a bit lower than others, but I'm not having issues with it, and I barely clear most speed bumps I frequent in my town.

On to the sound, since that's what most of us care about from a catback.
There are two different sounds I am going to describe - with and without the sound reducer installed.

WITH THE SOUND REDUCER
The exhaust is actually quieter than the HKS with the reducer installed. It makes a nice, relatively even tone, and I say relatively only because of the UEL headers. It is not unbearably loud, does not cause drone, and is loud enough to hear and enjoy but still manages to be approved by girlfriend (I know the FT86SF guys share the same sentiment with their header, and it holds true as well). I do not have sound clips of this, sorry, just know that it is pleasant, audible, and mature.

WITHOUT THE SOUND REDUCER
If you want a deafeningly loud exhaust that has all the glory of the boxer rumble we all know and love, this is the option for you. Holy shit does it sound mean. The sound is so low none of my cameras or microphones can actually pick up the full range of what you hear, AND FEEL. It is absolutely beautiful. I do not daily drive my car in this state, but going up to the mountains, or simply just to set car alarms off in the parking deck, or maybe just to hear and feel the experience of driving this car a bit more, it is amazing.

Here are some pictures and a video I didn't care to edit myself out of because I am lazy and about to get my feet massaged. Be jealous. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks,
CJ

With some loosening of the clamps and twisting of the tubes, you can get the tubing to fit up much closer to the crossmember, and gain an extra inch of ground clearance.

I have yet to scrape mine even once, and my car sits pretty lowered..
