Heaviest Shift Knob that won't burn / freeze your hand?
I swear I saw some advertisement somewhere for a shift knob thats really heavy but doesn't conduct heat/cold well because it was made of some different material…
Can anyone point me toward a really heavy shift knob that won't freeze my hand… |
I purchased one made from Delrin so it doesn't get hot or cold on my 240sx and I loved it. (this one)
I bought the same one for my FRS thinking it would be just as great but Delrin is a pretty lightweight material and it made holding the shifter and shifting miserable. I quickly purchased a heavier metal one. FRSport.com is the site I bought my Delrin ones from, see if there is a heavier one and don't forget the thread pitch and the fact that you need one that is reverse lockout compatible. |

Anarchy motive is what I'm running and is what you want, but raseng just released a new heavier ashiko knob that looks to be like mine, but heavier and better, but I can't speak on that one from personal experience

You can get Flossy knobs.
I'm not entirely sure about the freezing part but I'm pretty sure most manufacturers are more concerned about the knob getting hot than they are of it getting cold. Flossy's are pretty good in that regard. I've never had it terribly hot or cold - I live in Boston, so while our summer's aren't as hot as CA, we get pretty warm here. And well, last winter was brutal. |
@Raceseng Slammologi hybrid shift knob. Best of both worlds. Not quite as heavy as a Slammer or Aishiko (I prefer the weight of the classic Slammer, but they can get hot/cold and the thermal bag just barely helps) but the Slammologi has a Derlin cover with solid steel(?) core. Comes in 4 colors.

The Signatür. I suppose this is for people who prefer to side shift (although it looks comfortable enough for palm shifting too). http://www.raceseng.com/signatur-shi...ubaru-brz-2013 http://www.raceseng.com/media/catalo..._-_black_2.jpg http://www.raceseng.com/media/catalo...-on-car-86.jpg |
I recently purchased a Raceseng Ashiko knob.
This thing makes shifting AMAZING and super smooth. However, it does get hot but I have found just putting a cut sock over it while it's sitting in the sun makes it much better and doesn't get that hot. I highly recommend this knob but be advised you would need to cover it sometimes. http://www.frsport.com/Ashiko-Weight..._p_281230.html · 303 Stainless Steel material · Weighs 735 grams · Machined finish |

Blox 490 shift knob in my car. They make little shift knob beanies to keep them temperate. Help keeps mine cool in the Cali sun, so I don't see why it won't work the other way.

Moddiction "anvil" series with the wrinkle powder coat finish (red). Really heavy (don't remember the weight but they list it on their site)
The powder coated steel gets cold but not awful like a non coated one. Plus, in the summer it never gets too hot to touch either like non coated ones can get. Looks great, fit perfectly and I absolutely love it. |

OP, have you checked out the TWM Spooky?
