Thanks

You haven't seen nothing yet!

This is only the very beginning.

John,

Have you been able to identify any transitional phases located in the torque dip, I.E. cam timing, or swaping ignition maps, or the transition from port fuel injection and direct, to only direct?

I would imagine working only the fuel, and ignition timing maps will make it slightly better, but would decrease performance elsewhere (robbing Peter to pay Paul).

As far as fuel goes, if you read the 2GR-FSE development paper it seems they have identified the ideal DI/port mix at all rpm and load, there are no crude "transitional phases". Cams are fixed lobes, continuous phasing, no crude transitions there either.

The fact that they've played around with stuff there and haven't been able to do anything suggests that it's just lower volumetric efficiency there, which ultimately needs new headers to change. The AFR there is 0.9 equivalence which is ideal for power anyways. I think arghx7 said that when it goes down to 12.5 that's to protect the catalyst.

I like how the video edits out all the charts... meh.

But the car sounds good on the street!

Car picks up good power up top from af change alone.

I figured as much after logging my car, that is why I called you a cheater because I can't do anything about my little top end diesel right now:lol:

How did it take to advancing the timing? I know you mentioned multiple maps?

Visconti 07-02-2012 09:49 PM

Yup, fueling, ign timing , intake and exhaust can timing have been drastically changed.

I'm able to pickup power about everywhere. Like I've said before car is awesome on the street.

At this time my STG1 91 & 93 maps are complete.

I'll be working on STG2 stuff later in the week.

I also plan on testing this software out on a turbo car very soon.

It wouldn't be Don's turbo car would it?
