TWM short shifter alignment problem
I installed a TWM shifter last night. Everything went smoothly, but I have a few issues that I was hoping to get some input on.
1. The plate was installed as far right as possible per the instructions, but doesn't seem to be far enough right, as 2nd gear appears to be crooked. As shown on the picture below, the black lines are what my shift lines feel like. I can shift easily into 1st and 2nd (red line) w/o moving the shifter all the way to the left side, but when I move shifter all the way to the left, it'll do this curve when going into second, which is really annoying. This also occurs shifting into 6th, but it's not as drastic. 2. With the above issue, I'd figure that I need to move the reverse lockout plate even further to the right... BUT, as it is now, I can barely get into reverse. The plate seems to be just a tad too far to the right, and I have to put pressure on the shifter in order the get it into the reverse "gate." Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?? http://i.imgur.com/RGtYNQN.png |

TWM, I'll try to get pictures tonight. Thanks.

@TWMPerformance @aznatama how did you go with this? I am experiencing exactly the same symptom with my TWM Shifter.

I figured it out yesterday when I finally got around to taking apart the center console to investigate... I was using the stock bolts, which came in contact with the TWM shifter, causing the crooked shift pattern for 2nd and 6th. I replaced the 2 bottom bolts w/ the allen screws and it's all fixed. I left the stock bolts for the top two simply because I could torque those down better than the allen screws.
The reverse lockout plate has all the parts as shown in the instruction manual, and is currently as far to the passenger side as possible. It's shifting into 1st and 2nd just fine. However, going into reverse is still exhibiting the same issues as originally stated. It seemed fine w/o the rubber boot on, and does not appear to be pinching the boot anywhere. Looks like I'll have to get in there and move the lockout plate to the driver side slightly to see how it works out. I'm afraid it might be too far left for proper 1st-2nd engagement, but maybe not. Lastly, a lot of people, including myself, have an issue with the overly stiff spring used for the reverse lockout lever. I took the spring and snipped off part of it, resulting in a much easier pull. Much more satisfied with the reduced force required now. |

Did you read post 6? It solved part of the problem.
