can I run just back studded tires?
Last season I had the blizzacks and they worked wonderfully, but I had to throw out my back pair when I switched to my summer tires. Now that the season is about to start up I was thinking of putting my blizzacks on front and getting a pair of studded tires for the back. Will I run into any issues with this?
I plan to put my winter tires on only when I'm going to the mountain to snowboard, or when it is going to snows in the city. |
You won't have problems until you get into snow and ice.
You'll have rear traction, but no front traction for turning or stopping. Thanks for turning yourself into a missile. |

Did you actually read what I wrote, or did you just comment on my title? My first sentence stated that I had non studded tires all around last season and they worked wonderfully. So how would adding studs to the back degrade the efficiency of my front tires? |
Yes you're fine.
Same concept as chains on drive wheels (RWD). -alex |

Awesome, thanks bud! This will give me a lot more confidence getting into the mountains this year. |
You would be fine but matched set is still much safer, here's a good video of mixed vs. matched tires.

In a panic stop, EBFD might have a hissy fit with so much more grip in the rear than up front.
Can't say for sure without trying it out, but it *could* potentially be bad. |
