trade in for BRZ?

really considering trading in my 2011 v6 camaro for the BRZ. i love my camaro and have done a lot to it over the years. but there is just something about the BRZ that draws me to it and it looks just as fun to mod as the camaro. the main thing that worries me is how much they will give me for trade-in. it takes too long to sell on my own so i dont want to do that. its modded so ill take a hit either way. i just dont want to take the time to put everything back to stock.

You also get tax credit when you trade it in.

So consider that...

Before you get too far into your thinking...

Go test drive a twin.

Use Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds' TMV to get an estimate of what your trade-in value would be. If they're far off, average the two.

Make sure to remove as many modifications as you can from your Camaro before you even take it in to a dealer to be appraised for trade-in purposes. They will give you no value for any modification and depending on how it suits the car, may even subtract value. Then, of course, you can sell your mods to help with any hit you take on trade.

Like others have said, make sure you drive a twin before you do anything.

Dont forget, if dealerships low ball you you can always sell it for more to a private party then use that cash for an FRS.

Not in California which I assume where the OP is from.

No tax credit, or no test drive?

You will not be happy with a FRS/BRZ. If I was you, I would trade it in for an Elise/Exige. The power of the BRZ/FRS is not gonna make you happy. It will handle way much better but not that much better then your camero. That is just my 2 cents.

What?

was that even english dude? Also have you driven a camaro??? That thing handles like an accord sedan!

I have driven both and can confirm that the 86 handles MUCH better (like a real sports car) and will even FEEL quicker, despite having less power. OP should go test drive it to see for himself

No tax credit fore trade-in.

OP would do much better selling it private party. Most car dealers assume a $4K profit margin on most used cars. They buy them cheap and try to sell them high :)

whamslam3 09-25-2014 12:40 AM

ya i looked up the value for trade in and it seems pretty good assuming they give me that much for it with my mods. i could take off the mods but i was trying to avoid it haha. also could sell it private even tho it takes longer but id make more money and its not like i need the frs now so i could. ya i will prob test drive one soon. how much did u guys pay for ur fr-s after everything after taxes and all that good stuff lol.

The OP only list one car in his profile so I assume the Camaro is his daily. An Exige/Elise would be an absolute nightmare as a Daily after about the first week.

Make sure you know what your getting into. I just traded my BRZ for a 2014 Mustang GT. I needed some more space and I missed the power (came from a built motor, big turbo, 05 Legacy GT).
