Lots of people walking side by side with umbrellas so you can never see the line?

Still wondering who wanted the regular Integra in the same ST* as the Type-R. Like, what's the point?

Same could be said about more than 80% of all cars that are currently classed. Cars have to be grouped in some logical way that promotes healthy competition and doesn't result in hundreds of classes. What would your preference be in the case that you bring up? Write a letter :)

Heh the umbrella part made me laugh...

Look how close some of those Type-Rs are in the event results. A normal GSR would be MUCH easier to build (easier to find, easier to get good wheels, makes about the same power, etc...). Try finding a non-molested Type-R. I can find a stock, good condition GSR within 5mins on AutoTrader for pretty cheap ($5k-8k).

Not sure how competitive it would be, but I think the car would be more competitive in STX than in STC (where it is now). No way in hell it can keep up with the older Civics/CRXs...

I would support the move. It would add more diversity to the class (FWD), not an apparent overdog (lesser Type-R), cheap to obtain, and lesser constant risk of theft vs the Type-R.

It might actually be a good, cheap entry to replace the 325i for a cheap build that might be able to snag a trophy...

rules aside you're correct

however, STX doesn't allow internal work, so that "about the same power" comment is not true, the ITR engine is leagues better than the regular 1.8. Without changes to the camshafts and compression you'll always be playing catchup.

the ITR chassis is also lighter since they put less stuff into it, or not at all, such as the sound deadening.

Suspension is the only place where they'd be on equal footing in STX, since both would get carte blanche of go fast parts, but at the end of the day you'll never tune a GSR to ITR levels under STX prep.

There is no way a GSR can be better than an ITR. I think GSR all have sunroof, so that already makes it heavier.

It's still a more favorable classing than STC, as evidenced by the couple-years-old rule about class hopping where the 89-91 Si took both STC and STX. Not only that, but GSRs (at least some years) have a helical LSD, if I'm not mistaken, so it was kind of an incorrect classing anyway, and also why STF wouldn't work.

It being the best spot to play doesn't necessarily mean it's still a good one, just better than the other options.

justint5387 09-29-2014 11:51 AM

GSR did not have LSD. I guess it doesn't really matter since it won't be nationally competitive in either STC or STX.
