Where should my rpms be while cruising in a turbocharged frs

I read somewhere that these cars detonate/knock between 1500-3500rpm. So my question to you guys is, where should my rpms be while cruising?

What? You heard? from who?

Cruise just as it would stock. It will only detonate if you have an fa20club tune

Crusing rpm is typically 10k. Anything below that is just absurd.

As Dipstik-sportech said, if you've got detonation at low but not at high rpm at low rpm then, assuming the turbo is holding boot, it's an issue in your ECU maps.

That range is where the motor is most "knock-prone" under load. A good tune will minimize or eliminate it. This won't be a problem on cruising unless your tune is really REALLY bad.

You should be able to cruise at any reasonable RPM; it really depends on how fast you want to go and how often you want to gas up. I drove my car from Nebraska to Minnesota on Friday for a car show today and I usually cruise at ~3K RPMs in 6th gear on the hwy.

As for the turbo spooling, I usually watch my PSI/vacuum to keep it under zero (0). Usually when cruising your turbo shouldn't spool unless you additional modifications that could cause that. Overall, I have no problems doing ~400miles with temps, oil pressure and gas mileage. I think I get about 200 miles on my E85 with a 10:1 compression. I'm actually very happy since I'm pushing 20psi lol. whoop whoop.

Best of luck and hope this helps :)

I've heard on another platform, MS3, that it was bad for the engine to build boost at low RPM. I'd guess the same would apply on this engine.

I would replace bad with potentially hard on the motor. If your engine wasn't designed for boost then "lugging" it at low rpm under boost could cause very high internal forces/cylinder pressures that could be problematic. But, if it's designed and tuned to take it it's not "bad".

This thread hurts my head. RHYMES

anyway, I cruise at the same RPM's as before, just don't punch it at 1,500 rpm while in 6th gear. One, you will go no where, two, heavy low for low rpm, not good.

If your tune causes detonation in the rpm range the engine experiences for 80% of its lifespan, you have bigger problems than FI choice...

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Cruising Speed!
Cruising Speed Who?!
Because Knock Knock...
