Going to Socal for a weekend, Any Tips?

So I am taking my FR-S down for its first trip to socal next weekend and im wondering if i should prep anything to the car. @Pish told me i should use blue painters tape on my front bumper. Any other tips?

1) Check oil and coolant levels.
2) Check tire pressure.
3) ????
4) Drive!

the car is pretty much road trip worthy right out of the box... I've done multiple road trips to Vegas, LA, Northern CA.

Just get a nice song playlist ready and maybe bring a cooler of drinks and snacks. Maybe get a radar detector. And enjoy the drive.

Sounds like I dont really need to tape my car. Even my brother told to just drive behind him so i dont needa worry about crap hitting my car. Thanks @finch1750 and @PMok

Saves @Pish and i some time taping her down lol

What part of SoCal are you visiting?
Take the advice as previously stated. Also, get plenty of sleep the night before! And take breaks if necessary! Make a list of food joints to try out while in SoCal! Also, try to source out some mountain road fun! I've personally taken my brz down south and driven on Glendora mountain road! Very fun road to drive. Have fun! :)

If you can, take your time and drive down the coast.
I have driven LA to SAC/SanJose every couple of months for the last couple years and it is not an interesting drive. Get to the 5 and turn on cruise control at 80, go to sleep.

Just drive! Enjoy it!

If you're driving during the day on 5, stop by Buttonwillow (<5 min from the 5). If it's open, sign in and wonder around.

not that it matters now, but if you want to do it the lazy way, make sure you stick behind a truck during the dusty areas... avoid rock chips this way.

I'd rent a car instead of taking the 86 down -- too precious for me to drive down to LA on the 5, i'd do 101 though since it'd be slower/longer/ and less rocks.

If your paint is clean and doesn't really have a lot of defects or rock chips, I would still painters tape it up.

Following behind your brother isn't going to prevent rock chips

I guess this is where clear bra earns its keep ... since my front bumper is protected I can cruise the highways and tailgate whomever I want with impunity. :bonk:

Why prep? Prep only if you are paranoid about the car.

I did this trip back in May without even batting an eye:

I decided, even though i am paranoid about it, that i will not tape my car for this trip. Lucky for me, socal has some meets that they are inviting me to! im excited to meet more frs/brz owners :D
