VOLK 17" Weigh Off. TE37SL Vs CE28N

Hey guys,

I know a lot of people are starting to look into the 17" segment for Lapping/Tracking use so I made a video to review Ray's 2 most popular forged wheels, the TE37(SL) and the CE28(n)

You run 18" SLs on your car don't you? I saw it at the SubMit86 meet this year.

Yep! I do. I personally run staggered 18" TE37SL Black Edition. 8.5 front and 9.5 Rear. I chose this 100% for personal aesthetic preference. I really like the classic TE37 flat spoke, which I have in the front and I like the new concave TE37 look, which is what I have in the back.

If I had to help anyone choose wheels, I'd recommend a square setup.

Yeah I was running square 16x7 TE37s earlier this year with 225/50/16 Hankook RS-3s and moved up to square 17x9s now with 255/40/17 on each corner.

CrazyWookiee 09-17-2014 02:06 PM

Good choice. I feel like 17x9 is a very under-rated size for our cars. It's been repeatedly tested that our car performs great under most conditions in this size.

While we're talking weights, you can get some sweet 15.7lb 17x9 TC-105N from Wedsport like miiiiine! They usually are priced anywhere from $1.4k - $2k also!

This is the only wheel I'll go to after my TE37RTs...unless Rays stops being a bunch of uptight fucks about 5x100 sizing in the TE37V.

...or the ZE40 comes in a size similar to the RTs.

CrazyWookiee 09-19-2014 01:03 PM

I do really like the TC-105N's. They are a great bang for the buck if you are looking for lightweight Japanese wheels. I did one on them a few months back:

the TC105N are my "reasonable dream wheel"

Reasonable, since I might actually be able to get them

dizzario 09-20-2014 12:40 PM

...I thought the RTs were the lightest :/

The 18" SL beat my RTs...

SL = "Super lap" aka lightweight special
RT = "Rigid Tune" aka more rigid (bend resistant)

For not much more, you can get 18x9 TWS T66F that weighs the same... :D
