Mishimoto Oil Cooler filter fitment issue

I'm having an issue with the threads on the filter engaging the new adapter. It seems like they aren't long enough? It screws on fine when I take it apart, but when everything is torqued down the filter won't screw on.

Anyone else have this issue?

EDIT: See 2nd post.

Figured it out, the top spacer/sandwich plate thing cracked. I'll upload pictures in a bit, but I just noticed you can actually see it in the video - it's the silver/shiny part. It cracked in 3 spots inside. This made it so the middle was torqued down, but the outside that the oil filter sits on was pushed up.

Now I have to rip half this shit apart and wait for new pieces. Hopefully Mishimoto can send me a new one without hassle..

**Called Mishimoto, they had me send over a picture and receipt and say they will be sending me out a replacement. Hopefully I just got a bad spacer and this is all resolved, this is already quite frustrating.

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with our oil cooler kit! The component in question is constructed from fairly thick CNC aluminum, very interesting that it cracked.

Thanks for contacting our customer service department regarding this, they should be able to send you out replacement components.

Quick question regarding the install. What spec did you torque the center bolt down with when installing? Just trying to get an idea of why this component failed. And just to confirm, the sandwich plate is the damaged item? Shown below.

Hey,
No, not the thermostatic sandwich plate. It is the cnc spacer (top one specifically, that the oil filter sits on) that cracked. I was torquing down to 30lb-ft. However, it never even got to much more than 1-2 lb-ft. It cracked effortlessly.

Customer Service just emailed me about an hour ago saying they are sending me off a new spacer :)

EDIT:
I attached the cracked spacer with cracks circled in red.
EDIT 2:
Oops, ignore the bottom 2 circles, those are just marks. There are 2 more cracks in the same location as the top 1, but you can't see them due to the camera angle.

Thanks for posting this up! We have yet to see a failure of this component, very surprising. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Let us know how the replacement part works out for you!

Thanks, will do.

It was supposed to arrive today but apparently UPS had an issue with the truck and it's under "delayed" status. (I know, not your guys' fault)

I'm aware this is an old thread but might as well resurrect one instead of starting a new one. Has anyone else had this issue? Given the OP hasn't been on in over a year, I'm guessing he is no longer around. I watched the Youtube video of this installation and it appears two other people have had the same issue.
