Senior Driving
I'm a 68yo senior now driving a Chrysler 200S. I was driving a 2005 Crossfire SRT, but sold it with only 5K on it. Ever since I sold it, I miss driving the car. I'm thinking of buying a BRZ, but think I may be too old for a sports car, what do you guys think.

as long as you can get the old bones in and out, you're never too old.
|
You sold a SRT6 crossfire with only 5k on the odometer?
I am not a fan of the crossfire, but the srt6 are pretty damn rare. As far as the brz is concerned, if you are comfortable getting in and out of it I think you would enjoy the feel. It doesn't pull in a straight line, but it makes me smile :) |
it is hard to get in and out of the seats in my opinion because it is too low and lumbar support is too well. but i think there are many senior members here.

It would be a very sad world if old guys couldn't have sports cars.
I think the car will be ok if you can see and hear fine, and it's not going to put you in a bad place financially (especially if you are fixed income.) The car isn't insanely hard to get into and out of, except for a probable lower seating position than your Chrysler. The ride will be harsher and the seats firmer, so if you have arthritis or the like then I'd make sure to get a good test drive. The car also has the option of a very good torque converter automatic transmission if you have bad knees. But as far as how you think people will see you...I think you're old enough to do what you want. |
Dude - pop a Viagra, drink an espresso, jump in and hammer it!
|
Def get one. Although, I will say what others have said and say that the BRZ is a bit hard to get in and out of. Not overly hard, but enough to absolutely notice it.
|
Considering people drive every other sports car at your age or beyond, why not? Corvettes, Porsches', etc. Heck, most people cannot afford a sports car until later on in life so it makes complete sense.
The BRZ is great, a little rattly, but nice. |

If you love to drive a 'real' good handling sport car, if you have no trouble getting in and out of low seating sport car, Go get BRZ now! |
Go for it!!! In my 60's and you are only a couple of years ahead of me. 86s are FUN! + great handling RWD cars. Driving the twisties gets the adrenalin flowing!!! Power comes on at a high RPMs though. A '15 WRX might be more practical for you if you have to carry passengers...just as fun IMO and mo power...(when wifey lets me drive it!) After 2 years of BRZ ownership, I have no desire to get rid of it at all. It's a keeper! Do a test drive. Dittos...if getting in&out is not an issue, you'll probably love it.

I know an old chap who has owned Ferraris and other exotics, now daily drives an FR-S and he couldn't be happier.

62 and LOVING IT! As far as getting in and out of it "it's a use it or lose it" I look at the climbing in and out as a way to keep all the parts in working order and the driving a way to get my heart rate up and the adrenaline flowing.

Had mine since I was 62 Love it. Go for it!!!!
