2015 BRZ Head Unit
 

So I recently picked up my 2015 BRZ Series.Blue and was thinking about getting a reverse camera for it. Does anyone know if the 2015 model has the same head unit as the ones before? Will the beatsonic harness that people have been installing on heir 2014s work on the 2015 as well?

Headunit is slightly different but I'd ask Beatsonic. I'd doubt the connections would radically change.

What is different in the new HU?

Give Beatsonic a call. They have always answered my questions via telephone. They even walked my camera installer through the connections on my HU over the phone.

Let us know what you find out... Picked up a '15 Series.Blue and am wondering the same thing! =)

I just sent beatsonic an email. I'll keep you guys posted one they reply... I hope the harness still work with this as a backup camera would be super useful.

As for the new HU, its just as terrible as people say it is, navigation wise...
Anybody have any "fixes" for the nav issues? I am currently using my phone on a car mount for directions...

So Beatsonic replied and the answer is yes. The reverse camera is compatible with the 2015 head unit.

I noticed that it had a memory card slot along with the usb and aux. THe memory card slot is towards the left of the unit.

That was always there. It's for the navi.

Thanks you are right. I saw a 2015 BRZ and a Scion later. I noticed the Scion did not have a memory slot and assumed that it was new for the 2015. I realize my mistake now. I just googled 2013 BRZ Limited interior images and the memory card seems to be there.


When you say its for the navi.... in what way is it for the navi?

Thats where the map data is stored

whats the point of it being on a removable piece of memory? do we get frequent updates?


is it at all possible to put something else on it?

I had pics somewhere. It was really pretty easy. Too lazy to find them. And you don't need a pricey camera or harness or anything either if you're even a little handy.

Sorry nin69 but I lol'ed at your comment. That's like a mechanic calling Goodyear to get advice on how to mount a tire.
