Enkei RPF1 17x8 or 17x9 ¿?
 

Hello, people who ride enkei RPF1 in 17.... What wide should be better for autocross and trackdays ? 17x8? Or 17x9? I really would like to go with 17x9 but I don't know if it is to wide for the power and torque of my car (should be tuned with complete exhaust soon)...

I would like to achive the best times and performance and wILL be my ONLY FOR AUTOCROSS AND TRACKDAYS WHEELS . With SLICKS tyres,.

I vote for 17x9 since it slightly stretches the 235-245 tires that results in stiffer sidewalls and more steering response

Depends on width of the tire and what class you want to run in.

I would go with the proper straight width for both ... I mean in the case I found the best tire width option for the wheel for example 225 or 235 for the 17x8 or in the other hand 235 or 245 for the 17x9... What would perform a bit better ? Wider wheels but heavier? Or not so wide but widier enought and a but lighter?

It's still dependent on the tire type and size. We've ran 225 EHP tires on 17x9 wheels since EHP tires tend to run much wider than your standard street tire. R-Comps in the 225 size tire can also be much wider than street tires in general. Some sanctions will disapprove of wider wheels than a certain width so just check your organizations in case there are some sort of rules.

The suggestion is 17x9 for the potential to upgrade.

Also watch the offset, 17x9+45 will leave you with very little room to adjust camber on stock diameter springs unless you buy camber plates.

I run tein sreet flex coilovers, so if I choose 17x9.... Now what offset should be ? Hahaha

+35 and +45 will work just fine.

17x9 +35 if you plan on getting BBK later down the road.

17x9 +35mm will also help eliminating rubbing inside the tire and 9" wheel is a great size for 235 and 245 tires..

Unless you have some serious power, 17x8 with a 215 or 225 sticky tire is PLENTY for track use. The RPF1's in 17x8 +45 will clear a BBK (not sure about +35 though). We are running 215 NT01's on a 17 x 7.5 which has tons of grip at our power levels (191whp/156tq) and is a light weight setup.

However, autocross setups seems to prefer a wider contact patch for low speed grip.

I think it all depends on the BBK :)

Just curious, have you ever used a wider tire/rim configuration at the same day and conditions, I can almost guarantee you that a 17x9" wheels and 235/40/17 NT01s would result in better lap times since my friends did that test with their Miatas and we all agreed on that ..keep in mind, Miatas generally put about 140-150 whp on dynojet
