window seal deforming
this isnt supposed to happen is it? Subaru wont cover it as I hit 36k miles and I do not have extended warranty... :iono: it`s $200 including labor btw...
video to come later. https://scontent-b-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/...dd&oe=548632E4 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.n...3d822002400cd8 https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...d68e5c83b08ee1 |
Had the same thing. Luckily I am still under warranty and had both sides replaced. They've been perfect for almost a year now.
|
Known issue. The easy/cheap solution seems to be to Armorall the seals once a week to lube them up so they don't stick to the window.
|
Does that not leave armorall smeared on the window?
|
For FR-S, there is a TSB for this.
This happened to me also and mine was fixed under warranty. Putting oil didn't help for me because the rubber was already deformed. |

damn it looks like even on the TSB it specifically states "up to 36k miles" :(

But even if it does, wouldn't that be better than a pinched window seal? |

the TSB i believe does not apply to this seal, but to the outer seal at the bottom of the window.

I had this same issue on my first BRZ. It was pretty early on, though--maybe 10K miles. Dealer replaced it, no problem. Try a different dealer and act super nice?
|
Know anyone w/ a BRZ in your area that still has his car under warranty? swap seals with him...
|
Anyone who got this done by the dealer, how long did they keep the car for?
|
If it really bugs you, you can fix it yourself for $100, which is the cost of the part.
