Had the same thing. Luckily I am still under warranty and had both sides replaced. They've been perfect for almost a year now.

Known issue. The easy/cheap solution seems to be to Armorall the seals once a week to lube them up so they don't stick to the window.

gramicci101 09-09-2014 11:23 PM

Does that not leave armorall smeared on the window?

Sigh-on-Rice 09-09-2014 11:33 PM

For FR-S, there is a TSB for this.

This happened to me also and mine was fixed under warranty. Putting oil didn't help for me because the rubber was already deformed.

thank you so much. I`m gonna take this to the dealership and see what they say.

damn it looks like even on the TSB it specifically states "up to 36k miles" :(

Dunno. I haven't done it. I wouldn't think so unless you overdo it.

But even if it does, wouldn't that be better than a pinched window seal?

No it doesn't. And it works great so long as your seal isn't already in too bad a shape.

philstar 09-10-2014 11:13 AM

the TSB i believe does not apply to this seal, but to the outer seal at the bottom of the window.

I had this same issue on my first BRZ. It was pretty early on, though--maybe 10K miles. Dealer replaced it, no problem. Try a different dealer and act super nice?

aznatama 09-10-2014 12:21 PM

Know anyone w/ a BRZ in your area that still has his car under warranty? swap seals with him...

AsianStyle 09-10-2014 03:12 PM

Anyone who got this done by the dealer, how long did they keep the car for?

AznBRZer 09-10-2014 03:17 PM

If it really bugs you, you can fix it yourself for $100, which is the cost of the part.
