Buzz's Drive and Memorial Sat, Sept 20th 2014
 

Thank you to all that have donated to help support Buzz's trip around Earth's orbit. Donation total is currently at $420 dollars. Our goal is $995, and I know there are a few more people that have expressed they still want to donate. If you are unable to meet with me and would like to donate via internet please PM me.

The Drive will take place on Saturday, Sept 20th. We will meet at Starbucks Coffee in Saratoga at 3pm, leave for drive @3:30pm. Here is the address:

The drive will be to highway 9 and skyline (I have not decided where I will spread his ashes yet), eat at Alices, maybe take a drive down La Honda and back, then continue up to 280/92 junction and carpool to Crystal Lake Resevior. Alexia has requested us to carpool if we can due to limited parking. The ceremony at 7PM Crystal Lake Resevior will be with some of Buzz's close friends in the Bay Area.

> This will be the memorial for Buzz. There will be a short eulogy, a short open mike period for those who'd like to share stories about Buzz, and then Buzz's ashes will be spread in accordance with his wishes (I think you'll like that part.)

> The event will be on she shore of Crystal Springs Reservoir. If you are going along 280 between Sf and San Jose, there is an exit for Hwy's 92 and 35. Follow the signs to Half Moon Bay, but do NOT cross the isthmus dividing the lake. There is parking along the Hwy 92/Canada Rd roadway. Park facing south. Follow the signs:

> Please bring a blanket to sit on and any food or libations you'd like to have during the ceremony. We'll be sitting on a small hill, so blankets aren't necessary, but will make it cozy. The event starts just before sundown, so a jacket is probably a good idea.

I'm really sad that I cannot make it. I have to work Saturday, but I plan to take a moment of silence at the same time to remember Buzz and celebrate his life.

We will have some commemorative LOL PWR stickers to give out on Saturday. It would be great if everyone who joins us on the drive put it on their car in remembrance of Buzz. We ask that you consider donating to Buzz's memorial space launch fund if you could. Suggested donation for a sticker: $10. Sandy will be there so please give your donations to her and she will take care of sending them on to Alexia.

Please note we will not be giving out 86DRIVE STARS for participating in this drive. I want people to come out to honor Buzz, not because they want to earn a STAR. Thanks for understanding.

Some more info for Sat:
Arrive no later than 7:15pm, the eulogy will start at 730pm. You may want to bring for yourself: snacks, drink, blanket, flashlight.


The grass is knee high in some areas and there are brambles, so jeans and closed toe shoes are recommended.

Just received Buzz's ashes in the mail.... We will spread them on the drive. Tomorrow we will celebrate him. :'(

Unfortunately I wont make it. Please let me know how it goes. I wish I could have made it... Buzz will be in my thoughts!

Picked up a cold but I feel like i'm on the tail end of it, so I hope I'll be good for tomorrow.

Btw I hope everyone that comes out for the drive will be respectful, safe, and courteous on the road. I think Buzz would of course want us to have a great time, but we may take a slower pace to stay together as a group and make stops to spread his ashes.

About to get on Skyline to Vista point then Alice's.

Awesome turn out today. We had a great drive on highway 9 and skyline. I think Buzz's ashes were spread out at the perfect places. The ceremony at crystal lake resevior was pretty epic ending in fireworks. Big thank you to all that came out to join us. We have reached our donation goal through very generous people in the community and norcal86 sponsoring LOL PWR decals. Buzz will make it around earth's orbit plus. I have a ton of decals available still if you'd like to donate more to Buzz's family. Thank you!
