Poor gas mileage

Hey everyone,

I have always gotten poor gas mileage with my auto BRZ. They claim 28mpg combined, but I was consistently getting 21mpg (average). So...

I was having rough idle with my 2013 BRZ and the dealer reflashed the ECM.

Since then I have gotten a combined 25mpg!

I had "reset" the ECM many times with the battery disconnect (that did nothing). The dealer reflash fixed my MPG issue. Thought people should know!

I get 37 average with my auto FRS... but that is 95% freeway at a constant speed.

I get 22.8mpg on my MT '13...maybe i should get a reflash? :P

new ecu and camgear in my 14, still 25 mpg, 30 best on the freeway long 300 mile trip

Need more info. I avg about 21 with a MT, but my commute is 7mi in stop and go traffic with a max speed of about 40. The minute I go on a trip on the highway, I can avg over 30.

I average 22.9 MPG about 70% city driving in my manual FR-S... only once did I ever get it above 30MPG

I've gotten as low as 16MPG

I usually get 24 or 25 mpg from 6spd and 100% city.

17 mpg with an auto, had the car for about a month, mostly city driving

Muaddib 09-06-2014 01:21 AM

Well it is not fully broken in yet and driving habit would affect the mpg.

DC2R 09-06-2014 01:23 AM

Usually about 19 -22 city. Short commutes always stop and go traffic. 13.5-17 on E85.

Bach415 09-06-2014 01:54 AM

Manual. 25-27mpg City. 35-40mpg Freeway. Usually in 4th/5th gear in the city doing 25-30mph while on freeways 6th gear doing 69mph(rev light/sound set to 3k).

It was slightly used so it has nearly 3k miles on it.

Driving habits are huge.

In the span of three days I had three fillups, two in one day they went as follows:
26 mpg, 12 mpg, 29 mpg
There was nothing wrong with my car and if you exclude the 12 mpg I was beating the EPA ratings, the first and last fillups were a mix of freeway and city driving (commute) and the middle tank was a full track day.

See fillups 45-46-47, not sure why they're numbered out of order...

Without a good idea of the sample size it's hard to judge if there was something wrong with your car or if you decided to wake up a half hour earlier for work and have a lighter commute.

Normally around 26 combined. Drove like an old lady for a week and got it up yo 32 (but was really boring) so fun driving habits rule your mileage n
