MXP UEL header/over pipe combo and front pipe

So at the shop last week, fteightysix.com, a box from Mackin showed up. In it was the MXP UEL header and front pipe. I've been waiting for these for awhile, and according the Mackin, these are the first to arrive. Instantly my car was on jack stands and the exhaust being pulled off. I was please toy surprised when I opened the box with the header and a over pipe was in there to. So for 675$ I got a header and over pipe, and 229 a catless front pipe.. The pieces looked great, welds were nice, and the collector was looking great.

Installation was as easy as any other header I've installed.. In less then an hour I had the car up, parts swapped over and car back on the ground. The over pipe I do remove the engine mount nut and lift the engine..

Forgive the dirt, I've been to the dry lake bed for day long drift sessions lol

So on first start up... Well, if your looking for quiet this obviously isn't going to be it, with my Greddy EVO3 and no cats, UEL it was loud, once cold start is over the rasp goes away and a really deep rumble is there.. The car does seem to have a.. "Pulse" I guess would be the way to describe it, I installed the Perrin steering rack locks and maybe that's why also, but it could feel the exhaust pulses in the steering wheel.. Nothing bad, just the car seemed to come alive..

My first test down the road and it sounds like just about any other overly loud subaru with a exhaust.. Really, at the meet it sounded just like some of the WRX/STI with straight 3" exhaust no cats.. For me personally it's to loud.. But the EVO3 always has been. I just love the look of that exhaust..

Because of the change in exhaust, driving down the road at highway speeds, it's changed how the car resonated.. The drone is there but different. Light pedal under cruising, it seem quieter then just the EVO3. But as soon as you touch the pedal it was loud. I wanted the cat back MXP exhaust, as it's my favorite sounding exhaust and we installed it couple days ago.. It's much quieter, the drone is gone, but a bit of rasp is there.. Not bad, but more then I like. I also needed to test out the new Dezod cat back and that's what's on there now, until the kraftwerks supercharger goes on this weekend. And I think I fell in love..that Dezod exhaust sound damn right mean under full throttle, no rasp, and no drone.. But still louder then I'd really like.. Of course again, I knew this was going to be loud. The greddy got polished up and silencers installed to test that until Thursday when it's dyno day for the SC and the silencers get pulled..

All in all I'm happy.. I got the tone and note I wanted out of my flat4, at a price I can't believe.. UEL header, with over pipe for 675.. And a front pipe for 229 that's a great deal to me.. It bolted in perfect and looks great..

I'll do my best to get sound clips soon.. All I have for recording is my HTC M8.. So I doubt quality will be that amazing.. Evo3 and cell phones seem to clip very easy distorting the sound.. So this will be worse

How does it compare power wise? I've been running mxp headers along with my mxp cat back for over a year now.

I can feel a difference for sure.. I don't really get that "OMG it made such a huge difference attitude" that some get when they add a part, I mean you don't really feel 5hp on a 3000lb car, but the dip is smoothed out a lot, and I really do feel a difference there.. During my daily commute I'm a MPG hog, and shift early, yes I'm in a auto, so the dip is always there and you can feel it bad when trying to accelerate down low and you right smack in the dip, now it's a nice steady pull. I wish I had the time and spare cash to get a baseline number, then the exhaust then the supercharger, but I don't.. I really wished the MXP exhaust sounded good to me.. I really wanted it as I love the sound it makes on the stock front part of the exhaust..

I'm not sure, I'll look In to it, MXP is actually Mackin Xtreme Products. Mackin as most know are the exclusive importer for Rays wheels, Yokohama/Advan wheels, Project KICS, and project MU so I would love to assume Japan, like the rest of their lines.. But I'll call and find out.. Because I honestly do not know

MXP is American made. California I believe. Also, if you pair a MXP catback and headers with something like a Motive Concepts HFC, it sounds perfect. not too loud at all. just perfect for me. I'm running EL though, so it's quiter than your UEL. I didn't know they made UEL until you posted this thread lol.

The MXP exhaust has been on back order for 4 months, according to our Mackin rep, a big part of the delay was a port strike in LA and the boat sitting off the coast for awhile.. I do know they shipped with the 57FXX wheels we ordered and those suppose to have come from Japan.. Either way, the quality looks and seems top notch.. But time will tell..

That sounds about right.I waited 7months for my exhaust and the only reason I waited so long is because I didn't have any other in mind, and the price was great. It was nerve wrecking.
