FT-86=Hybrid?!? Please say it ain't so...
 

I just heard a rumor that Toyota is pushing production back to 2013, and they are thinking of making this a hybrid, can anybody confirm or deni these accusations?

You haven't been looking through this forum that much lately. There are countless threads on these two topics, Hybrid and Delayed, all over the place, and in all of them we are saying the same thing.

If Toyota doesn't say anything, then it's just tabloid bullshit. It's just because they have nothing else they can report on that can make any money.

Autoblog, Car & Driver, MT -- you name the magazine / blog and none of them link any source for their information. No source usually means flat out bullshit.

Actually if you look when I joined it was yesterday, and I've been following it as much as possible since then, I just found out about it and didn't see and actual thread so I made one, so don't try to be one of @sshole members that treats people who missed something like sh&t:thumbsup:

basically its like this. last official toyota news was that the car is still on schedule and that its a 2L boxer RWD everything else is specilations and bs to make hits on the websites..

I would recommend not really reading too much into anything that doesn't come from Toyota either directly or indirectly (I.e. through someone that had an interview with toyota, etc.). And it should say somewhere that it came directly from Toyota if it really did

Yeah, every month or so, we get those rumor. We were here to read every single BS rumor, so some of us are irritated than others, so don't take it personally.

of course, just for my entertainment, I'll take other side of some debate and debate for a while lol

I don't why this rumor keeps coming over and over again, but I'm sure it's a BS. Toyota already confirmed that the car will go on sale early 2011. I wouldn't mind the delay if they are also building Supra equivalent at the same time.

hypothetically speaking, from a marketing point of view (im not a marketing person, im a engineer so this might be completely off LOL) it doesnt make sense to release 2 sports cars at the same time, makes more sense to release one, then the other, just to make more sales, or they could release both just for the lineup purposes

Hmm... I didn't mean to say releasing 2 sport cars at the same time, but I meant they are probably also working on Supra equivalent if it means to push back the FT-86 to 2013.
