Recommendation on Red Taillights (SOCAL)

I've been researching red tail lamps from Tom's to Valenti's etc., but have also noticed people painting or getting their tail lights tinted red and such. Was going to go with the Tom's, but have elected to go the cheaper route as I rather pour more money into coilovers.

Where in SoCal has someone got their tail lights tinted red and they did a great job? Price, location and pix if you can.

Thank you.

It's a relatively easy diy job with a little sand paper, masking tape, red spray paint, and clear coat.

Does it affect the color of the amber turn signal and/or brakes?

Just buy a $10 bottle of red vht nightshade and spray them yourself its super easy i didnt even sand mine down after or use a clear coat and it looks great

Red Duplicolor Metalcast also works.

Yes, but you probably have a matte or hardly shiny finish and it may not last as long without the environmental/UV protection of clear coat.

Clear coating is just another can of paint, i used spraymax2k clear and mine shine just as good as my cars paint. It has been 1 year since I did mine and no color fade or chips.

Sanding helps with paint adhesion so over time you may see the affects of not sanding prior to painting.

Its not really fair for you to assume what my taillights look like without seeing them. They turned out surprisingly well and they are quite glossy. I admit theyre not perfect but definitely not flat. I cant attest to the longevity since ive only had them for 4 months but so far so good.

Not really confident in doing it myself. Rather get it professionally done. Anywhere else anyone can recommend with price, pix, and location?

Do reconsider trying it yourself. I wasn't confident I'd be able to handle the job myself but with some thorough research and preparation, it was an extremely simple and straightforward job.

Read through this thread, extremely helpful and in-depth: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7826

Like you, I was originally dead-set on getting the TOM'S for my car and was just redding my tail lights in the mean time and I ended up liking them way more than the TOM'S. I need to go back and clear coat it, but I think they still came out awesomely. Relatively glossy for not having clear coat.

I eventually plan on taking a couple layers of red off so as to make them a bit brighter, and then a proper clear coat.

Good luck with whichever solution you choose.
