Passenger window not working
1 Attachment(s)
OK this is really dumb but maybe it can help someone out who is as dumb as me.
My passenger window quit working today. It doesn't go up or down and the switch is not lit. The same thing happened about six months ago and I had the dealer fix it when he replaced my transmission. I didn't ask what the problem was, I was just happy to have a new transmission and working window. So, I checked the forum and discovered that the window can be reprogramed by turning ign switch on, engine off, and hold switch down until the window goes down and clicks. Tried it and it didn't do anything. OK must be a blown fuse. Checked the fuse under the hood and it's good. WTF? OK let's bring it to the dealer. I think they're open on Sunday. So, I get in the car to go to the dealer and think "let me try the programming thing again." Turn on the ignition, hold the switch down and nothing. Wait a minute......What is that switch above the driver's window switch? It has some kind of weird pictograph of something on it. Looks kinda like a window. I push the switch and the light on the passenger window switch lights and the window works again. Oh, that's the passenger window disable switch. |

Well, at least you "solved" your own "problem" ......http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...es/shoofly.gif
Heck, back in the day, we had it simpler ....... we even had windows that did this ...... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/woot.gif humfrz |

Still not used to the noise the auto up/down makes when I open or close the door. Like Humfrz says in the old days we had cranks and if your window made that noise when you closed the door it meant it just jumped the track. Couple of hours of messing with it meant you were good for a few more months!

My first car that had that switch for locking out the passenger window was a 65 Cadillac Fleetwood. I assumed everyone knew about that switch.

You save me from some embarrassment. I was so ready to storm out to the dealership. :bonk:

I've had my BRZ since January 2014. Never noticed the window lock button, somehow switched it on one day. My neighbor waved me down when I was coming home a couple weeks ago, and I found the passenger side window wouldn't roll down. Noticed the window switch was not illuminated and just assumed it was a blown fuse issue. After another couple times of wanting to roll down that window, I finally got around to checking the fuse today and was surprised to see that it looked fine. Swapped it with the 25A spare anyway, but didn't work, of course.
Jeebuz, I am stupid. |

Glad that the glooge site:ft86club.com search still works. Loading and unloading the crutches has poked things that have never been poked before. |
