I was considering it as build for next year. probably start in the winter and have it ready for next spring. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with them or know anyone that had experience with them?

Put a Chevy 454 or a 2jz in it, just to piss off the fanboys.

I've known a few AC Cobra fan boys, they're quite popular in Long Island.

The kit cars are ridiculous toys. You can plan out how much it'll cost you, but it never works out like that. Even a factory 5 can go into the $100K range.

The best one in the market is Kirkham, that's serious stuff. Depending to who you talk to you, or read on the internet, the Factory 5's are good kits. There's quite a few kit makers out there, it's best to contact each one and see who you like.

If you want the looks then Factory five is the best. But if you wanna buy a stupid light kit car with a big engine, there's better choices out there as well.

The proper drivetrain is a different story, that's all subjective.

Edit: If your putting a kit together, the quality truly comes from whom is putting together. Keep that in mind.

I met the lead engineer for Factory Five at SEMA 2013 and I must say they are extremely professional and work hard to provide a great product.

If you contact them directly through their site, they have a lot of helpful resources they can send you to give you a better idea of the build process

I'd say go for it! Especially if you build an all-black one! lol

Just saw a Factory 5 Cobra in orange at a Canadian Tire parking lot last weekend.

I dream of owning a Factory 5 Daytona Coupe.

Fast, expensive and impractical. If you can live with 1960's levels of refinement and the knowledge it could kill you at any moment then they're super cool. My uncle had a 289 replica from the late 80's, great looking car and got looks everywhere.

If you just want a trackday toy I've got to believe something like an Elise/Exige would be better, or if you want to build it, a Caterham

If I was to go with a Factory Five kit, it would be the GTM. Faster than the MK4 and has the aero to keep it shiny side up.

Then again, I can see the draw of the MK4 because it's a sledge hammer, but I like cornering too much...

This one is my choice. Epic.

I love it honestly. And the performance is ridiculous. Plus the price. It's wins all around.

we need a nice cobra kit car build on this forum to compete with b@tmobile's NSX build.
